Senate Republicans are renewing efforts to learn why Huma Abedin, a top assistant to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, was allowed to keep working at the agency under a special, part-time status while also being employed at a politically-connected consulting firm.
The new requests are being made by Iowa GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, following revelations that both women used a private Internet server and email accounts for State Department correspondence.
Grassley says the earlier requests to the department have been largely ignored, ~snip~
Grassleys probe started in 2013, when he requested all communications between Abedin, after she switched from a full-time deputy chief of staff for Clinton to a part-timer, then started working for Teneo, a consulting firm that says it brings together the disciplines of government and public affairs.
A July 2013 letter from the department to Grassley, provide by the senators office, states Abedin worked full-time from January 2009 to June 2012. It states Abedin did not list outside employment upon ending her full-time employment and that the department retained her as an adviser-expert at the hourly rate of a SGA GS-15/10.
The most recent available federal documents show the rate as $74.51 with a maximum pay of $155,500 annually.
A number of conflict-of-interest concerns arise when a government employee is simultaneously being paid by a private company, especially when that company (is) Teneo, Grassley said in the March 19 letter to Kerry that also raised concerns Abedin and other department employees appearing to have been improperly categorized as special government employees, or SGEs.
Grassley says he specifically wants to know what steps the department took to ensure that
Abedins outside employment with a political-intelligence and corporate-advisory firm did not conflict with her simultaneous employment at the State Department.

Hey, she claims that she turned over copies of email she claims is work related and then she scrubbed the server clean.
Does that sound like a guilty person, does it?
Clinton will get away with this until such time as the democrats figure out she is a liability and not an asset.
If the server has been ‘scrubbed’ then she has no reason not to turn it over to an inspector.
I think what we're watching unfold is the result of that decision having already been made.
This communists club seems to win every attempt by Gowdy. Gowdy might as well just park the inquiry until we get a new president and hope it is Republican and changes the DOJ. Maybe with new blood and Republican blood in the DOJ investigations will have power.
The continuting saga of EraserGate. Part 2: Did HumaBooma erase her Emails? I can hardly wait to find out.
In Hillaryesque, "scrubbed" means the hard drive has been replaced with a brand new one.
Since the New York Times broke the story, I think you have your answer.
1. Muslim brotherhood money and connections to money in the Middle East.
2. Hillary likes her and she is a little bit hot.
3. Hillary is more of man than Anthony Weiner.
Note: to Huma, Never marry a man with the last name of Weiner!
Why? Because. Just because.
Because Hillary can do whatever the blank she wants to do, and laws and regulations do not apply to her. Also, she likes Huma, and wanted to see that she got a double paycheck. She wanted Huma to be taken care of financially.
As Hillary might say, what difference does it make?? Due to Hillary feeling that she is above the law, there will be resistance by the Clintons to anyone looking into this issue.
When a woman hangs with Hillary, eating at the Y pays big dividends.
Isn’t there something about Joe “the plumber” Wurzelbacher that the MSM needs to be off investigating these days?
I do hope you two are right, and you may very well be.
