"Nothing has ever come easily to this son of Searchlight. Underestimated often, his distinctive grit and determined focus nevertheless saw him through many challenges," McConnell said in a statement. "They continue to make him a formidable opponent today."

They are all good buddies. To hell with the country. It is all about career and after congress lobbying opportunities.

In solidarity with his old criminal buddy, the Turtle should also resign. That would be a good first step to getting America back on course.

Searchlight, Nevada had legalized prostitution when Harry was a pup.

"Gayest" meant something different back in those days, though.

McConnell and Reid are two birds of the same feather, so why should not he praise him?

I know where you are going with that and I have to say that path is an insult to female dogs who don’t attempt to destroy the Constitution and the Republic.

The US Senate is one of the most exclusive clubs in the world. You have to endure a lot to gain entry. As a result, senators from different parties and different political viewpoints work together and become friends, even allies.

McCain had a personal friendship with Hillary, and one of the greatest friendships was between Barry Goldwater and Hubert Humphrey. The two men could talk politics and ideology for hours over bourbon and branch water, and when necessary they could work together. When Humphrey died of cancer in 1977, Goldwater cried like a baby at his funeral because he'd lost his best friend.

Senators will behave collegially in situations like this, even when they don't particularly care for the senator involved. I would recommend the fourth volume of Robert Caro's magisterial biography of Lyndon Johnson, Master of the Senate, for details as to how the Senate works.
