Jim Talent to Scott Walker's team
KWCH 12 ^ | March 26, 2015 | Erin McPike

Former Sen. Jim Talent, R-Missouri, is joining Scott Walker's nascent presidential campaign as a leading adviser on foreign policy and defense, sources familiar with the move and Talent told CNN....

It's a big get for the Wisconsin governor as he draws up a campaign plan and team: In the coming election cycle, foreign policy figures are expected to loom especially large given the increased frequency of threats brought by ISIS and other terrorist groups. Talent was a foreign policy adviser to both of Mitt Romney's presidential bids, and nearly every major potential GOP hopeful this cycle has courted him.

Talent currently is an American Enterprise Institute Senior Fellow and the Director of the National Security 2020 Project at the Marilyn Ware Center for Security Studies. He also consults at the public relations firm, Banner Public Affairs. Previously, he was a distinguished fellow at the Heritage Foundation, specializing in military readiness.

He provides Walker with a muscular approach to national security and defense that would put him on the opposite end of the spectrum from Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul in the primary, yet still provide an alternative to what former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is leaning on: George W. Bush's administration and his team of former defense officials. ...

Can I root for Ted Cruz and Scott Walker at the same time? I think either would make a fabulous POTUS.

Make them the ticket for 2016. Either one as the head is fine by me.

Hard to imagine Ma McCaskill beat him in ‘06 Senate race. He was just too nice a guy to be a pol. IMO.

2006 was a horrible year for Republicans all around.

Here is what happened in MO in 2006. I remember watching the election returns that evening paying close attention to MO. Talent was comfortably ahead of McCaskill most of the evening. Then, for some reason, voting hours were extended for three hours in just one county-—St. Louis-—the most heavily Dem county in the state by “coincidence”. A textbook example of how Dems steal elections. Then, voila, McCaskill gets enough votes to unseat Talent.

I agree. While I’m working for Cruz in the top spot, I think a combined ticket of Cruz/Walker would be unbeatable.
It is so good to have such great options.

That’s their problem. :)

I like Walker and Cruz, too.

Was that the election in which “voters” were bussed in from Illinois?

Jim is an old college pal of mine and an all-around good guy. I’m glad to see him on Walker’s team.

I don’t think so.

I know what you’re talking about, though.

I think that happened in 2008 in the Iowa Dem presidential primary where BHO defeated HRC.

Totally agree! Either would be great.

But be careful....some of the Cruzers will attack you for equating the two!

He was abandoned by evangelicals in SW Missouri when he ran for reelection. They gave us Claire McCackle because Jim Talent wasn't pure enough for their liking.

I remember Iowa, too. But I also seem to recall a Missouri election in which people were alleged to have been brought in from East St. Louis. They arrived late in the day and there were enough of them that someone got a judge’s order to keep the polls open after the normal closing time. I don’t recall if that was an election that had Talent on the ballot, though.
