Our own media control efforts on our own public are what drives most American public opinion. I don’t see how any foreign operation from any other country is going to beat our big money people here at bamboozling us Americans.

...and the public is accustomed to being spoon fed rather than to seek what the rest of the world is reporting and make up their own mind on what is or not reality....they simply do not have the time...and the people with the agendas know this all too well.
We know massive corporations dominate the U.S. media landscape, both foreign and domestic, and through a history of mergers and acquisitions have concentrated their 'control' over what we see, hear and read.
Then you have the giants like Apple, Facebook and Google slowly reconstituting the Internet and the control of information while they try to steer us to their increasingly closed versions politically and otherwise.

My take is that this group was employed largely to slug it out with Omidyar/Soros funded opponents on Russian/Ukrainian language social media.

Absolutely what we have seen. Even if the money men/financial elites disappeared tomorrow we have so many diseased minds in key positions in society, I don't know how we could stop it at this point.
