Levi Pettit, the Highland Park High School graduate seen in the now-infamous University of Oklahoma SAE video chanting racial epithets, will make his first public remarks Wednesday at an event hosted by an Oklahoma state senator.
Sen. Anastasia Pittman, chair of the Oklahoma Black Caucus and a University of Oklahoma graduate, says Pettit will join her tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the Fairview Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, where he will apologize for singing that racist chant earlier this month. And before that, she says, he will spend an hour behind closed doors talking with pastors and politicians and African-American leaders.
Pittman says Pettit and his family reached out to her, following a statement released March 9 in which she said she is “disheartened at the obvious lack of tolerance for diversity within these student fraternities.” She says the Pettits have also met with her pastor in Oklahoma City.
Pettit’s parents have released an apology on their son’s behalf, but he has not said anything since the release of the video. Parker Rice, the Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas graduate also seen on the video, released an apology, but has not said anything further.

He and his parents would have been better served to have stayed quiet, found another low-profile school, cancelled Facebook & Twitter, and moved on to allow time to resolve the issue. As Dean Wormer said, partially: “Drunk and stupid is no way to go through life.” Time and sobriety are the universal fix for those errors.

However, always apologize when you are wrong, and this kid was wrong. The problem is that he will be standing alone. That song was taught to him by his predecessors in the fraternity. Where are representatives of the SAEs to stand with him?

Obviously he committed the unforgiveable sin.
Liberals rush to defend murderers. They find excuses for them.
The same courtesy is not extended to people who violate the rules of PC.
Forget murder, rape, pedophilia, the worst crime that you can commit in today’s America is to be a white person saying something perceived as being racist.
Indeed apologize when you are wrong. But the kid is crawling to the black caucus of the school and will publicly prostrate himself before a professional victim group. It rings hollow.
