I was watching Fox and some left wing lady said that she heard a prominent Texas Republican called Cruz (paraphrasing), “a more obnoxious version of Obama with less experience.”

So if true I wonder who would say something like that.......Karl.

She then went on to say that she, as a Democrat strategist I guess, is not afraid of Cruz because he represents a small, vocal part of the GOP and not the country at large.

Jerry Brown wasn't yet governor when the movie came out, but he already was California's secretary of state, and the screenwriter knew him when they were both on the Eugene McCarthy campaign. Other possible models: John Tunney, John Lindsay, one Kennedy or another.
