Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker made another massive misstep on Monday, hiring Liz Mair of Mair Strategies to handle communications and social media for his campaign-in-waiting.
Mairs support for amnesty for illegal aliens, wide-open-borders immigration policies, and public advocacy for the Senate Gang of Eight amnesty bill is sure to dog Walker in Iowa, South Carolina, and other early presidential states.
During the Senate Gang of Eight bill fight, Mair very publicly and very aggressively promoted the amnesty billpushing it to media and making the case for the need for it over and over again. She claims her advocacy was done out of the good of her heart, for free, because for religious reasons she believes in amnesty and open borders. But Mair wouldnt answer who was paying her bills for her advocacy during the timeframe of the Gang of Eight bill in early 2013 through the end of the last Congresswhen asked by Breitbart News if any specific tech companies or a select group of Wall Street billionaires were paying her.

> Yup, they do check past associations and references.
I’m always looking for the people they DON’T list as references like ex-wives / husbands, former landlords, people they were involved with lawsuits with, business relationships that went south, etc...: )
I’ll vote for the candidate and let him worry about his/her staffing. What’s gonna happen when Ted Cruz is found to have a staffer who is less than a pure conservative? It’s gonna happen and are you all gonna be flipping out over that too? Look, Scott Walker is flip-flopping all over amnesty and if he can’t convince us he’s going to be strong on the issue then that’s one thing, but I won’t base my decision based on his staff hires because all of these guys are gonna probably put experienced political people on the payroll, and a good many will have establishment ties.
Correct. She is a PR person, paid to promote the message that the people who pay her want promoted. Much like a lawyer does in a courtroom.
This person isn’t simply a “staffer”.
Scott Walker is "sending a message."
I’m a big Walker fan but THIS concerns me.
More evidence that my gut feeling that Walker is Plan B for the amnesty whores at the RNC is correct.
He has very close ties to the Chairman, an amnesty whore and Paul Ryan, another amnesty whore.
He has expressed support previously for amnesty and now he’s populating his campaign with amnesty whores.
Not exactly in line with his claim of changing his mind about the invasion (it’s not immigration if it’s illegal aliens., they did not apply to be immigrants.)
This show very poor judgment on his part. This may have been a staffer hiring her without his knowledge. He better get a handle on things or he’s out before he begins.
As if I wasn’t already wary as hell about Walker. Any political operative that supports amnesty and fag-marriage is no different than a left-loon Dem in my book. Hence, any GOP-er that employs such a character is telegraphing all I need to know about said candidate.
All I know is that this hiring sounds like a dark harbinger of things to come.
It’s not irrelevant. You can’t hire people who are internationalists; you dismiss them. I want people who represent AMERICA. Bob
I consider opposition to Amnesty an absolute, and I will not under any circumstances support a pro-Amnesty candidate. However, I do not consider this “misstep” relevant. It’s a communications staffer, not the candidate himself. Let’s stick to real issues. Walker and Cruz would be great presidents, with Cruz by far my top choice. Bush/Rubio/Christie/Romney would be terrible disasters for the country. I don’t care who is in charge of communications for any of them.
Yes, but why not hire a true believer in the Constitution instead of someone who at best will “just pretend” to do so? Isn’t there anyone out there in the GOP ranks who fills this bill?
Walker can beat Hillary and therefore is viable. The Uniparty must take him out. Handfuls of mud and handfuls of mud, something has to stick.
Hey Scott, Keep an eye on appointments like this. I like you, but this move concerns me.
Let me see if I got you right... you would hire someone to get your message out whose beliefs are 180 degrees from yours.
I’m for Cruz, but it looks like Walker is so lock-tight that the press has started looking at totally unknown staffers to try and sink him.
I had a friend in college who graduated and started working for Bob Barr and another worked for Elizabeth Dole. Neither were, in no way, ideologically in lock-step with their bosses at the time, but both worked for them loyally.
I have an aunt who worked for a Democrat Congressman and now she works for his Republican replacement. She disagrees with both of them, politically.
I rarely care what these people’s staffers think, or say.
“This is BS. This woman is not in a policy making position and her personal views have nothing to do with Walkers campaign or the way he would govern. It always amazes me how people get caught up in this kind of irrelevancy.
Correct. She is a PR person, paid to promote the message that the people who pay her want promoted. Much like a lawyer does in a courtroom.”
Yep. You hire people who do their profession well.
For example, my plumber thinks that solar power is the future. I still call him every time I need something repaired because he is good at his job.
Professional staffers are the same. Few people realize that there aren’t a whole ton of people that you can hire for these jobs and they are very specialized.
(I’ll bet one of Walker’s interns voted for Obama. The horror.)
