I was with 1/8 in ‘84. I was also there for the dedication of this memorial. Hezbollah has never received payback. In ‘85 I was with 2/8 in the Med and we were gearing up to land in Beirut but it was cancelled. You could cut the rage with a knife it was so thick. We all were itching to go.
My son was with the 1/8 in Afghanistan. He had signed his release papers a few days before the first daesh beheading and wanted to go to Iraq. His new wife’s grandfather is a survivor of Beirut. He wasn’t in the barracks at the time but he suffered greatly till he passed. I still hold a grudge against reagan for not responding but this, this is actually an affirmation of the act that took our sons that day. Their blood is now on the administration’s hands.
