Not better cars than those available today but a better time to live in America than today.

My first car was a 1955 Chevy Bel Air 4 door. It was a tank - just the thing for a teenager. Bumpers and fenders made of steel that could take a whack.
I must confess the first time I tried to fill it up I had a little trouble finding the gas cap. :0)

Nice compilation...that was the year before I started at GM. From there on their market share declined. Not sure if I was the fundamental cause or not...

I would much prefer the old cars with bench seats and no seat belts, and a totally free environment inside.

a better time to live in America than today.
In many respects, but ...
- blacks were already rioting and burning down cities all across America
- political assassinations (or attempts) were not uncommon
- the VN War was heating up with the number of draft notices increasing dramatically.

Got my license in 65 at age 16. Been a MOPAR guy pretty much ever since. Got a decent full time job at 17 in the evenings while college during the day and bought a new 67 Plymouth Satellite in fall of 66. Sorry I ever sold that sweet ride..... This pix is one off the net mine was the same color without the vinyl top......traded down after 3 years to fund an apartment .

I got my first car (HS graduation present) in 1967 when I was 17 years old. My parents bought me a 1966 Ford Fairlane GTA. Almost 50 years later I still miss that car.

I had a black ‘57 chevy, then an army green ‘59 chevy, then a split window VW bug.....I should have kept all of them.

I freakin' hate the look and design of cars today, especially these SUVs...Ugh, SUVs I can-not-stand. Since when did everyone decide they have to look like they are preparing for camping and mountain climbing trips, not to mention the lovely way they block the view of traffic. In the past you would have the view ahead blocked occasionally by trucks or vans. Now it's block pretty much ALL the time, so if some jackass 200 yards ahead decides to stop short, you really don't know about it until the SUV in front of you suddenly slams on his brakes. Real nice. Not to mention all the freakin' accidents they cause. Traffic comes to a crawl because of an accident, and surprise surprise, once again an SUV is involved. Plus they look like utter dork machines.
Cool........
Not cool......
