Cruz does not garner the support outside Texas like Walker does.
Cruz has no leadership credentials or accomplishments, like Walker does.
Cruz has not been thoroughly vetted by the left and media in the way Walker has.
Cruz is our Obama....a first-term Senator with a sparse track record (better than Obama's).
I love Cruz. But outside of red-meat conservatives, he has issues. The masses will reject a first-term Senator based on Obama. The masses want a proven, real leader, like a governor, because Obama was not a leader.
Like it or not, we need someone who can win the masses, not just conservatives. Walker can do both. He has fought the battles, talks eloquently, and is thoroughly vetted as a conservative.
And Walker doesn't?
I disagree. Cruz has become the defacto conservative leader in Washington. Have you even been watching him? I like Walker too, but Cruz is my choice to cut the nuts off the liberal malaise that has gripped this country.
“...he has issues.”
And one big issue is his wife. I don’t trust any CFRers.
What leadership credentials?
Leadership is not all about holding an executive office. Leadership is about having a larger vision and the will to accomplish it. Leadership is about communicating that vision and having others join in that vision. Cruz can hire many Walkers to implement his vision.
Accomplishments?
His key accomplishments are winning in a blue state and setting the public employee unions straight.
Chris Christie also won a couple of times in a blue state, and I think he attempted to straighten out the unions. But he did not have a legislature to support him. Does that mean I think Christie is great- not really.
Well put. Now watch your back.
I disagree with you on two things. One is that Cruz is very well thought of (except among the disgusting party elite) outside of Texas, in many ways more so than Walker. Where did you get the ideal that Cruz isn't popular outside of Texas? They other is that Ted Cruz is indeed an excellent leader, actually with more national exposure than Walker. He started a movement in the US Senate and he articulated constitutional conservative ideals in a way that has inspired millions. That's leadership!
Another name to look at is Tom Cotton. He's got the foreign affairs knowledge and military experience. He has excellent potential to lead US Senate conservatives when Ted Cruz is President or VP.
I am looking at both, but I’ll argue several points. You are stating what you want and projecting to the masses. We have no idea if the masses want a governor over senator. Recent history does not show that. Traditionaly america has leaned towards governors and those wil military experience. That has not been true in recent history. The military advantage has been gone since 1992. The past two cycles have been dominated by senators Obama Clinton and McCain. America chose a senator over Romney despite his leadership experience in business and government.
I don’t think we know what America prefers. I think over anything they vote for the person who’s better on tv.
For 2016. I see no indication the voting population has rejected Obama and his views not rejected senators as presidents. I also reject comparing obamas record to Cruz. Cruz has a much more storied record over many years. Trying cases in front of the Supreme Court is not equal to being a backbench state senator. Cruz comes with a wealth of experience. He also is a time tested debater and could perform quite well be the other candidates. We celebrate Walker’s campaign record for good reason, but Cruz’s 2012 defeat in the primary is of equal achievement. Time will tell.
