Over half (54 percent) of Republicans, 26 percent of independents, and 10 percent of Democrats, when asked in a recent poll which religion describes President Obama's "deep down" beliefs, said he is Muslim. The poll was conducted in October 2014, by Alex Theodoridis of the University of California at Merced and released in February. Choices included Muslim, Christian, atheist, spiritual, or "I don't know." While 45 percent of Democrats said Obama is Christian, his stated belief, only 18 percent of independents and 9 percent of Republicans agreed. Many also responded "don't know" – i.e., 47 percent of independents, 26 percent of Democrats, and 19 percent of Republicans.

Recently, the sincerity of Obama's Christianity also came into question when his longtime advisor and confidant David Axelrod, in his book Believer, revealed that the president for years lied in proclaiming he opposed gay marriage because of his Christian faith. In fact, wrote Axelrod, Obama was a supporter of same-sex marriage for years before the 2008 election, but Axelrod advised him to conceal that fact because "opposition to gay marriage was particularly strong in the black church."

Those seeking clues to the president's "deep down" loyalty may find them in his stubborn refusal to call "Islamic terrorism" what the whole world knows it is. His insistence that the "Islamic State is not Islamic" may be the silliest artifice ever devised to distinguish "normal Muslims" from the fanatics. We all know that most Muslims don't behead people; the president simply protests too much. But when he tells us, "Islam has been woven into the fabric of our country since its founding," mass head-shaking ensues.

Points of fact:
1) He does not seem to be a very religious man. There is little evidence he has the strong grasp of either the Bible or the Koran that comes from reading it faithfully over decades.
2) His narcissistic personality likely prevents him from truly believing there is any being (i.e. God or Allah) greater than himself. His behavior suggests he loves himself more than any deity.
3) In his words and actions he seems more attuned to and preoccupied with the concerns of Muslims versus the needs and issues of importance to Christians.
4) There is a great division in the Muslim world between the Shiites and the Sunni’s. If Obama is a Muslim, it is difficult to determine which side of this religious schism he is on. In Indonesia, where he was exposed to Islam, the people are Sunni. Obama bowed to the Saudi king who is Sunni. However pulling US troops from Iraq helped Iran, the leading Shiite country and bitter enemy of Saudi Arabia. He seems intent on letting Iran keep the capability of making nuclear weapons which no bitter enemy of Shiites would do. Plus his closest advisor, Valerie Jerratt was born in Iran.
It may be Obama is not religious at all but simply uses religion to further his political agenda. A religious Muslim would have a Sunni or Shiite identity. He appears to have neither. While Sunni’s and Shiites hate each other, they hate Christians, Jews, and therefore the US and Israel even more. Perhaps his obsession with Muslims and Islam is more about ending American dominance in the world than it is with any strong religious conviction.
Hear his words and watch his actions. In my opinion, NO. But only God knows.
Reagan was a regular church-goer before he was President. But, of course, he’s often slammed for “never going to Church.”
BTW: Reagan’s marriage to Nancy was valid. When Jane Wyman became a Catholic in 1954, she obtained a declaration of nullity of her marriage to Reagan, because she was married to someone else (briefly) in 1937.
Nevertheless, Catholics who voted for Reagan have often been slammed with phony outrage (usually by pro-abortion Catholics): “How can you vote for a divorced man if you’re a Catholic?”
No one who is pro-abortion is a Christian. Thus, no Democrat is a Christian.

There is no comparison with Reagan and the Muslim Obama in my opinion. It is a failure at the first thought of it.

I think he’s sympathetic to Islam bit not theologically a Muslim. Culturally, it’s a strong vein within him. He no doubt self-identifies more with a Muslim than a Christian.
He’s more of an agnostic at best. He’s not really a follower of any God. But yes, it’s laughable to say he holds a Christian theology.
