So why did Bush take out Iraq if Iran is our enemy? Oh yeah, Bush saw Iraq doing mushroom clouds so we went to war. Now the GOP sees mushroom clouds from Iran. Yes, the GOP wants to go to war, well, perhaps all the candidates except Paul, but you can see how Paul’s foreign policy is blasted by the other GOP candidates.

China, Russia and a pile of others have the bomb but they are not as ‘doable’ as Iran [remember how doable Iraq was to Wolfowitz, et al?] So let’s nuke them before they get a bomb. Wonder what Russia and China would do? They plan on bombing Israel but Israel has enough bombs to liquidate Iran without us. Why don’t they?

We don’t need another steenking war. We have been at war for a hundred years in all parts of the world. We are reduced to borrowing money from China. Another war would be existential for us. Up America, Down world policeman.

Well, there certainly will be limits to America’s power if Obama allows Iran to get the bomb and the caliphate to take over the entire Middle Eadtern oil industry.

I thought that Libertarians supported free trade, or is it crony capitalism that Libertarians support?

Good point that Islamic Iran is not as rehabilitable as was Japan.

We’ve been talking parking lots and sheets of glass since I can remember.

Vanity Fair my eye! Those fools have little idea where Iraq even is, much less how much the war cost! Where exactly did they get this 'estimation'?

We may well not have a choice. Could America afford WW II? No! But we fought it anyway? Could we—at this point in time afford any war? No. We couldn’t pay for a war on Mexico or Cuba now.

what will happen when Irans A-bomb(s) hit Israel and we have 6 million dead, and a million radiation victims airlifted to the USA?—The only good news is that the Holy Lands will be uninhabitable for generations and millions of Arabs will die of the fall out. Before they go out—Israel will take out Irans cities and oil ports with their a-bombs. It will be de-populated.

No we can’t. Years of deficit spending, under Republicans and Democrats have left us in this position.

Some ask, can we afford Iran to nuke us? Yes. Unless the attack is an EMP attack, Iran will attack one or two large cites, probably on the coasts. After one or two attacks and millions of American deaths, the left may (or may not) wake up and perceive the need for a strong defense. If they don’t, then we will need to sunder the nation.

I’d rather see someone else do it, but I don’t expect Obama to permit either outcome.

If there really is a shake-up going on in the Kremlin, then Iran’s on hold re: its Russian air defense, they may have to operate it themselves. This would be the ideal time for IDF to strike, while international alliances are being shuffled.

The ideal time for Israel to strike was a decade ago when the threat was clear, or six and a half years ago just before Obama seized power in the USA, or three years ago just before our 2012 elections, or tomorrow. Waiting is not in our interests; peace is more than the absence of war at a given moment. When I pray for peace in Jerusalem, I know that real peace probably will require war first.

You have to restock the shelf ... :-) ...

Maybe not. I don't think we would have to nuke them twice.

“America cannot solve all problems in the world because of limited resources. There are limits to America’s power.”

There’s an actual point to this? Or is it just a bumper sticker?

Someone is going to be the dominate military power in the world. I would prefer it to be America. Who would you suggest?

Throw in DC and I am pretty sure we would show a net profit.

We aren't going to war with Iran. Should Israel and the Arab states attack, we should be prepared, but I suspect the Iranians know who their friends are and would leave our interests in the region alone. At least for the next two years. Of course things do go wrong, they could misinterpret our reaction to their taking our embassy, and our lack of interest in ending their nuclear program as American weakness rather than Obama's weakness.

That point is worth repeating. Thanks.

George Washington’s admonition that we be “at all times ready for war” has been ignored too long.

That’s OK. Iran needs “another steenking war” and Obama’s helping them foment it.

If the goal was Iran, then holding Afghanistan and Iraq was vital to that goal. Then along came the liberals in DC to undermine the whole thing, never mind the fifth-column media to further undermine things like they did in Vietnam.

Disarm? No, I’m saying that when you have 100 rds of .22 and a dozen rats, you don’t half to run right out and buy another .22 cartridge every time you shoot a rat.
