Fueled by the media narrative that a number of Republican Senators sending a letter to Iran was an act of treason, a whitehouse.gov petition to that effect has been gathering signatures and easily broke the 100,000 signature barrier that forces a response from the White House.
What remains to be seen is the White House will actually give its far-left base what they want in addressing its political opposition.
In fact, per this ABC report, the petition has now received over 165,000 signatures.
The creator of this petition, known only by the initials C.H., alleges that the 47 senators committed a treasonous offense when they decided to violate the Logan Act, a 1799 law which forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments.
The letter, which was published on Monday, warned Iranian leaders that any nuclear deal they sign with President Obama wont last past his second term.
Jerome Barron, a professor of Constitutional Law at George Washington University, told ABC News in an interview that he finds the senators letter disrespectful, but he does not believe the senators have committed treason.

I think conservatives are generally less eager to sign these petitions, realizing that they are simultaneously putting themselves on the short list for a trip to the gulags in our glorious leftist totalitarian future.
It’s probably made up.
Oh boy, 165,000 of the same tools who just groveled for ‘Net Neutrality!’ No sale...
It is not very often that you can get 100,000 idiots together on the same thing.
BTW, nobody, nowhere, no how EVER forces Obama to do anything. That so-called policy is just WH diversion for idiots.
First, Saddam Hussein gets 100.0% of the vote. Then, the various leaders of North Korea get 100.0% of the vote. Now, 165,000 “people” sign this treason petition.
Coincidence? I think not.
Composite Obama voters.
if you’re an American, you contact your congress critter and demand they push for investigations. then demand any evidence of criminal behavior be met with charges and a speedy trial.
that’s if you’re an American.
if you see the country as a leftie, you look to petition the king and beg an audience in the hopes he brings his divine judgement on your enemies.
How many were over 112 years old?
The White House started a petition to prosecute GOP senators...Huh I didn’t know they could go any lower. This is what community organizers do. They agitate and threaten. Such low life’s.
I think I read that the petition to deport Justin Bieber raised MORE signatures than this.
Go ahead and try to jail half the Senate. CWII will break out the moment the charges are filed.
Brang it. It will force Obama to have to disclose the details, to address whether the President has the power to make this treaty, and whether the Senate can end such an open letter.
It could also raise up past Democrat communications with foreign leaders.
And then there are John Kerry’s own transgressions. He should never have been confirmed as Sec. of State.
Making secret deals with the enemy without going through Congress is what’s treasonous.
Barky, Cary, Pelosi, Reed, Klintons, etc, commit real treason every day.
I believe the actions of the White House in regards to Iran are in the category of ‘treaty’ and therefore require approval from the US Senate. Thus, the 47 US Senators signing the letter are well within their Constitutional rights in drawing attention to the fact that this US President does not have approval to make ***exclusive*** historic agreements between his office ***alone*** and the government of Iran.
This President is acting in blatant disregard of the US Congress and thus with defective capacity. Iran’s government should know this, hence the letter.
PLENTY of treason here...............
............it’s just that the treason is against those of us who elected those bastards to do a job.
