Newspaper slams Rand Paul, Ted Cruz as 'traitors'
Washington Times ^ | 03/10/2015 | CHERYL CHUMLEY

Posted on 03/10/2015 7:19:44 AM PDT by SoConPubbie

The New York Daily News’ Tuesday cover took a highly critical stance against senators who requested the White House in a letter turn away from its nuclear deal with Iran, slapping up pictures of Republican Sens. Ted Cruz and Rand Paul and others above a large-font, all-caps, front-page headline: “TRAITORS.”

The accompanying story was an editorial that was titled, “Un-patriot games as Senate Republicans undermine President Obama on Iran.”

Editors slammed the 47 Republicans who pointed out via letter that President Obama ought to consider the Constitution and its caveat to obtain the consent of the Senate when forging foreign agreements, and said that while the nuclear talks might be marred by “fecklessness,” that’s still no excuse for bad congressional behavior.

Specifically, the editorial called out the senators for “treachery” and accused them of “sending a letter to the mullahs aimed at cutting the legs out from under America’s commander-in-chief.”

It went on to say the pact as forged was not worthy of signing, “but we strenuously condemn their betrayal of the U.S. constitutional system. The participants represented the bulk of the Republicans’ 54-member senatorial majority, vesting their petulant, condescending stunt with the coloration of an institutional foreign policy statement. They are an embarrassment to the Senate and to the nation. … Rather than offer objections domestically in robust debate, as is their obligation, ringleader Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas and his band trespassed on presidential turf by patronizing Iran’s leaders with the suggested ‘that you may not fully understand our constitutional system.’”

New York Daily News editors said “the plain intent was to sabotage Obama” and “horrendously, every member of the Republican Senate leadership signed the letter, as did GOP presidential contenders Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio.

Treason is defined as giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

Iran is defined as an enemy of the state.

Telling Iran off is the OPPOSITE of treason.

The NY Daily News has been a "Pinko Commie rag" (dear ol' mom's words) that isn't worthy of being birdcage liner since as long as I can remember.

I am sure they were calling Ronald Reagan a "traitor" in 1984.

That Daily News article was written and compiled by a foreign born reporter for Al Jazeera which explains everything about that article.

A sitting US President openly and blatantly colluding with the enemy for the past 6 years: Not Treason.

*Finally* trying to stop said President from doing so: Treason.

Tell me about it, I grew up in that psshole of a city and finally got smart and escaped 4 years ago, I hate that freakin’ city with every fiber of my being. It IS literally the liberal sewerhole of the entire country, liberals gravitate towards it like sh*t flushing down a toilet which is why Obama went there more than any other city for fundraisers. I mean my God, they got a hardcore blatant commie as Mayor now and it’s the main headquarters for the NY Times. I get into debates all time with people who think San Fran or Boston are more liberal. I say listen: This is a city where 3000 people were killed on Sept. 11th 2001 by radical Muslims. Only 7 years later they overwhelmingly elected a radical Muslim as President and then elected him AGAIN after a radical Muslim tried to blow up Times square. And if that wasn’t enough, they then elected a commie Mayor who immediately dismantled the NYPDs terror task force and demanded cops stop trying to gather intel from Mosques. Case closed. There is no city on earth more infested with brain diseased liberals than that city.

I say this as a Messianic Jew who loves Israel, but loves America more: Why are they fighting so hard on this, and rolling over to Obama on everything domestically?

We should be above this kind of extra-Constitutional nonsense. And when the Left pulls these BS tactics, we should have leaders with the spine to punish them for doing so. The fact that we do not have such leaders doesn’t mean we should adopt their tactics.

We should have LEADERS that take it to the Left and actually embody the principles they espouse, that follow the Constitution even when it’s not politically expedient to do so.

Yep they are defending a deal without knowing what the deal is to a country which sponsors terrorism and is taking over countries in the area and have called for the death to our country.

You can’t even make this up anymore.
