Indians Hunting Buffalo (Charles Marion Russell)
Oh, good grief.
A Native American group is calling on “Buffalo, New York” to change its racist, insensitive name.
Pundit Press reported:
Mark Beasley, a member of the Navajo Nation, has started a petition for Buffalo, NY to change its racist and offensive name. According to Beasley, he speaks for his Native American colleagues.
Beasley writes in his petition that Buffalo is the name of the animal that was driven almost to extinction by the non-Native forces in order to annihilate and drive out my ancestors from the American landscape.
Further, Within only a few years from the beginning of the campaign, all Native nations were driven off their lands and into reservations, where we have prior and since been unduly subjugated and and [sic] exposed to genocidal horrors unimaginable to the rest of the world and throughout history.
For these reasons, Beasley writes, Buffalo should change their offensive and racist names containing the word Buffalo.

We’ve become a nation of whiny pantywaists.
Dear Town Council of Mystery, Alaska,
You racist basterds...
Obviously no one has told them that they lost. Get over it.
Idiots. Buffalo can be found in many parts of the world. They don’t own the animal.
Gotta be a joke.
The problem I see is that some nutcase will take up the cause within Buffalo, and carry a campaign to rename it. If you follow Buffalo news...one of the possibilities is “Nickle City”. All it’d take is a majority of folks meeting, voting, and then doing something stupid to rename it Nickle City.
Then the whole thing would sweep across all of New York....renaming almost every city. Even New York City would be renamed....Gothem.
Yep, this is all we need.
Native Americans gave the black soldiers who served out West, the name “Buffalo Soldier” because their hair resembled the fur of the Buffalo. So they must be racists too.
Had the American aborigines the means and method they would have invaded Europe too.
But they didn’t.
“Shuffle off to Nickel City” just doesn’t sound tight...
Maybe theyll want to change Philadelphia to something less homoerotic?
Is Dodge City named after Col. Dodge? If so, they better get that name changed fast also! /s;)
But, but, but they were so tranquil and peaceful, (except for killing one another), they would never have thought of such a thing (thanks Rush).
It was Bison that were shot on the Great Plains, not Buffalo.
They can’t even get that right!
on top of everything else, they’re not even buffalo, there bison.
You’re the only one on the thread who gets it.
This Indian group is making fun of the politically-correct dorks who are demanding the redskins change their name.
They’re not the “idiots” - this is about football teams. The NY team with the bison on their helmets is not called the Bisons.
The Navajo Redskins fans are giving the PC crowd a taste of their own medicine.
There is a town in the Navajo Nation called Red Mesa. Their mascot, for the entirely native school, is the "redskins," and whose logo is almost exactly like the Washington logo
In Arizona, a Navajo high school emerges as a defender of the Washington Redskins
According to Catlin, who wrote extensively of the Plains Indians in the 1830s, the Indians would slaughter buffalo indiscriminately, just for fun.
Buffalo can be changed to Bison.
Boogie off to Bison works.
“Buffalo is not even a Native American word. from Italian bufalo, from Late Latin b falus, alteration of Latin b balus see bubal ...”
