BOSTON (CBS) Theres little question that blue eyes, for whatever reason, are considered an attractive facial feature, and only 17% of the worlds population has them. The vast majority of us have brown eyes. But apparently, for the right price, you, too, can have blue eyes.
The only way to change your eye color has been to wear colored contact lenses, but now theres a new procedure that change brown eyes to blue.
According to ophthalmologists, we all have blue eyes below our brown eyes, under a thin layer of pigment.
A California company has now developed a laser treatment that disturbs the melanin in the pigmented part of the eye and causes the body to eliminate it over time. The procedure only lasts seconds, but it may take weeks before the blue tint emerges.
This laser treatment is not available here in the U.S. yet, but has been tested overseas with success. Researchers claim it is safe but have to conduct more clinical trials before they can apply for FDA approval.
Some ophthalmologists are concerned that tampering with pigment could cause blockages and increase pressure in the eyes.
The procedure is expected to cost around $5,000.
My Italian dad lived most of his life life with dark brown eyes, but by the time he passed away at 99,...
Then you wrote:
my 91-year old dad's brown eyes are now bluish...
Hence: You have two dads?...............
No insult intended to anyone, but I much prefer my brown eyes to blue and think blonde brown-eyed women are more attractive in general than blue eyed women. Hope my green-eyed wife does not see this post.
I bought wrap-around Polaroid sunglasses last year. They’ve changed my life. I’ve had only one migraine since, because I wasn’t wearing them when I watched Bibi’s speech on CSPAN, which has crappy definition anyway.
If Bradley “Chelsea” Manning decides that he wants to identify with an eye color different from the way he was born, will he be able to demand surgery to fix that too?
I used to date a little cutie who had beautiful hazel eyes.
For some reason she loved blue eyes. Beautiful is beautiful.
Father and stepfather?
My wife is like that.
I have had brown eyes most of my life but now, at 74, they are turning green.
Some guys from the 82nd Airborne Division gave me two black eyes one night.
Mine change from brownish green to green....depending on what color I’m wearing, or how bad my allergies are :-/
They’ve always been like that.
I have a cousin with one brown and one blue eye. She wore opposite (hard) contacts, on each, during high school. Now, she doesn’t care and just wears glasses (more comfortable, she says.)
My cat has blue eyes.
I was wondering if I were alone in thinking of the abominable scientific experiments of the NAZIs in WWII.
(N.B. The word, NAZI, is an acronym, hence the capitalization.)
Too bad you’re married. We could make more 17%ers.
Yes. Most of the blue-eyed people I have known make frequent use of sunglasses for that reason.
I am a mutt on both sides; I have very dark brown eyes, and am glad of it: I almost never have had need of sunglasses.
My drivers license says hazel.
What the hell is hazel?
Some of us don't want our father's nose on our face.
They've always looked some variation of blue to me, except for the ones obviously photoshopped.
If my memory is correct, Ian Fleming described “Pussy Galore” as having violet eyes.
I don’t think Honor Blackman did.
