Rush Limbaugh, whos been a fixture on WLS AM 890 for more than 25 years, is about to get the bums rush from the Cumulus Media news/talk station, sources said Wednesday. If all goes as planned, Limbaughs syndicated talk show, which airs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, will be dropped by the end of March, according to insiders at WLS.
A Cumulus Media spokeswoman declined immediate comment. But a source familiar with the decision said it was based on the shows diminished ratings and failure to generate advertising revenue for the station, adding: Its impossible to sell.
Geez, after all the money they made on Rush? This is how you treat people? FU Chicago, and your grandstanding station.
B.S.
The god-father called in a threat, more likely.
He’ll have another Chicago affiliate within 5 minutes.
Time for WLS to bring back Ron Riley, John Records Landecker, Larry Lujack, the others, dust off the Anita Kerr Singers jingle packages and do a time warp.
Course, there could be a small problem with that...
I dropped Rush Limbaugh. Got tired of two hours of tea talk and name dropping to get ten minutes of political analysis. I’m not surprised by the ratings drop. Free Republic is more efficient.
If I lived in Chicagoland, I’d stop listening to this station and find another which I’d advise Rush to do likewise.
Rush has millions of devoted listeners like me and I buy from his advertisers to show my support. I even bought Snapple which I didn’t really care for, but I bought it anyway. When they dropped Rush I dropped Snapple.
Advertisers make a big mistake when they steer clear of Rush’s show because they’re afraid they’ll alienate the homosexuals or the greenies or the child molesters.
Wise up advertisers! Rush is the real deal!
More Cumulus/Democrat nonsense against Rush. There are other stations who would love to have him.
Not sure who will pick him up. He probably still has close to 600 stations. Lost affiliates in Pittsfield, Ma and I think Hawaii over the Fluck controversy and one in Rutland Vt a bit before then. In NY he went from WABC to iHeart’s WOR; in LA iHeart switched him from KFI to KEIB, and he switched affiliates in San Fran, too.
I think Lujack died a few years ago.
They will soon learn about “declining ratings”.
Got to remember that he is in political trouble, Maryor Rahm. There will be a run-off elections.
He did. That was part of the small problem. Should’ve said Dick Biondi. He’s still here at 82.
Are you kidding? Have I stumbled into DUmmieland? Radio is a business. If Rush isn’t pulling in the advertisers, then its time to go. There’s no room for sentimentality in business. What you did 10 years ago doesn’t matter. Its what you do today that matters.
He of course based some of his style on Lujack who HATED him!
Yes Lujack did pass on
On the rare occasions I can listen to Rush, I’ve been disappointed by the content of his show, or lack thereof. Seems like he phones it in more often.
[I even bought Snapple which I didnt really care for, but I bought it anyway.]
You should have bought Snapple stock when it first came out. The profits paid our taxes that year.
I dropped him also, because of his recent affectation of using croaking vocal fry in his speech.
