Mormon church backs Utah LGBT anti-discrimination bill

Utah lawmakers introduced a landmark bill Wednesday that bars discrimination against gay and transgender individuals while protecting the rights of religious groups and individuals.
The measure has a rare stamp of approval from the Mormon church and stands a high chance of passing in Utah, where the church is based and many state lawmakers and the Republican governor are members of the faith.

The Mormon church (I am not a member) banned polygamy over a century ago. Those Mormons who still practice polygamy are excommunicated from the church.

Joseph Smith had 34 wives, including young teens and other mens’ wives. Moral flexibility was built into the church from the beginning.

The mormon church is desperately trying to be seen as Christian, they see liberalism in religion as the wave of the future.
