"Arizona, please FIRE John McCain!"
Secure Liberty ^ | March 3, 2015 | We the People

Posted on 03/03/2015 8:54:44 PM PST by EternalVigilance

To the Citizens of the great State of Arizona,

We would like to ask a huge favor of you. To put it bluntly, we're asking you to fire your senior U.S. Senator, John McCain, in 2016.

The U.S. Senate was instituted by America's founders to be representative of the several states. U.S. Senators were originally chosen by the state legislatures. But a century ago, the people of this country saw fit to amend the U.S. Constitution and to thereafter elect candidates to that body by a direct vote of the people of each state.

That's why we're writing to you. YOU are the boss. We fully understand that this is YOUR decision. This is YOUR U.S. Senate seat that we're talking about. However, the choice of who sits in that seat doesn't affect just you. It greatly affects all of us, no matter where we live in America, and the future prospects for our children and grandchildren.

We have many different reasons for making this urgent request.

Some of us are still angry about the Senator's attack many years ago on our First Amendment rights when he pushed the unconstitutional campaign finance legislation that became known as McCain-Feingold.

We also well remember his "suspension" of his presidential campaign in 2008 in order to return to Washington, D.C., to vote to funnel hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars into the bailout of Wall Street financial institutions known as TARP.

Some of us are pro-lifers who are tired of McCain's hypocrisy and utter ineffectiveness on abortion and the defense of the natural family. He claims to be pro-life, but has always worked politically to strengthen the most virulently pro-abortion, anti-family forces in the Republican Party, while constantly maneuvering behind the scenes in the Senate cloak rooms against conservative, pro-life, pro-family legislation.

Most of us today are greatly concerned by the continued illegal invasion of our country by tens of millions of foreign nationals. And we have known for many years exactly who it is that has been leading the fight in Congress to grant amnesty to them: Senator John McCain. We watched sadly as he cynically misrepresented himself to you once again on this critically important issue during his last reelection campaign in 2010. Please, please, don't fall for it again.

While none of us wishes to denigrate John McCain's service in Vietnam, or his years of personal suffering at the hands of the North Vietnamese as a prisoner-of-war, that honorable, proud service doesn't give him a permanent pass in terms of current foreign policy or national defense. Senator McCain has worked very closely with President Barack Obama. In fact, no Republican has spent more time in the West Wing of the Obama White House than Senator McCain has, and it has been reported by the Associated Press that he has been in "near-daily contact with senior White House officials." But to what end? The carrying out of a extremely misguided, dangerously failed foreign policy -- in Libya, in Egypt, in Syria, in Iraq, in Iran, and in many other parts of the world.

We could continue the litany of grievances we have with John McCain, but space considerations in a letter such as this prevent it. However, many of us will continue to compile our disagreements with him and to make them available to you online in the run up to the 2016 election.

In closing, we're confident that in a state such as yours, with a population of more than six and half million citizens, you can easily find another qualified candidate to replace the incumbent, someone who will keep their oath of office, and fulfill the ultimate stated purpose of the Constitution, which is "to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity." We are not presuming to tell you who that person should be. We're simply asking you, pleading with you, that it NOT be John McCain. We're tired of him, and hope and pray that you, after thirty years, finally are too.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your time and your kind attention to this important matter.

Respectfully,

Your fellow Americans who have affixed their names

When you sign the letter, you can also leave a comment about why you want McCain gone. It may be published on the Secure Liberty site.

Here are some of the comments that have come in already today:

"Governments exist to protect the life, liberty and property of the people under their jurisdictions. McCain not only refuses to protect our rights, he aggressively offends them." -- William Luke Priest

"McCain has forgotten the true Republican principles and can't stand up to the Democrats." -- William Wade

"John McCain has not stood for even the basics of Conservative Principles.... he refuses to fight against any of the policies passed by the Obama Administration. Why is he even in public office if he refuses to fight?" -- John Kapler

"John McCain does not live up to American standards ... he's more liberal than conservative." -- Mike Bates

"John McCain has outlived his welcome ... He isn't a true conservative." -- Jackie Williams

"Mr. McCain is no longer a conservative Republican. He has become one of the elite who suffer from a mental disorder known as liberalism with a touch of narcissism. He no longer observes the Constitution nor his oath." -- Barbara Croft

"John McCain has sided with the Left on issues where he should have been standing behind what was Right. He has for years spoken like he wanted good change in Washington, but he stands behind the Liberals. All in all John speaks out both sides of his mouth." -- Janet Aldous

"McCain can't be trusted dealing with any entity in the Middle East. He has blocked any information or searches for POW's from Viet Nam, repeatedly. And he's too close to Barack Obama." -- Sunny Van Zyl

"John McCain is a disgrace!" -- Donna Ohlin

This imbecile should’ve been fired back in 1992.

As long as he has the power to bring pork to AZ, he is not going anywhere. He will be in office until he dies.

McCain got more money than any other player in that scandal.

Others had to resign from office. Not Johnny-boy...

Remember Alan Cranston? He resigned from office.

He pled mercy because he had cancer. Lived until 2000.

Great. So I will as well.

You shouldn’t throw cold water on sincere efforts to change the dynamic you’ve described.

Somewhere in the mix of post and response, I seem to have missed something. I posted that as long as he is able to give AZ congressional bacon (perks and money) he will continue to be reelected.

I consider that neither a positive or negative position , just a position of fact.

The ballot box is a failure.

Why waste time posting on a political site then?

Cranston didn’t resign, he served until his term ended in January 1993.
