(Exempt) Dems call GOP Homeland Security strategy a political blunder

WASHINGTON — Democrats are losing some skirmishes over the Department of Homeland Security, but many feel they are winning a political war that will haunt Republicans in 2016 and beyond.

Democrats lacked the votes Friday to force Republicans to fund the department for a year with no strings. Still, even some Republicans say party leaders are on a perilous path with a very public ideological struggle only highlighting the GOP's inability to pass contested legislation and possibly worsening its weak relationship with Hispanic voters.

Worst of all, numerous lawmakers said, Republican leaders have offered no plausible scenario for a successful ending, so they simply are delaying an almost certain and embarrassing defeat.

"It's bad policy and bad politics," said Democratic Rep. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, who once oversaw his party's House campaigns. The short-term fix, he said, "doesn't help the country, and it just shows that they're incapable of governing" despite holding House and Senate majorities.

RATS, and only RATS, passed Commiecare. DO NOT take advise from the losers.

It will cause liberal voters to withhold their votes for the conservatives who follow this strategy, a real blunder.

There are also dems that think astronauts planted the flag on Mars and that Guam might 'tip over', so if the Republicans choose to take their advice then they are totally stupid.

The republicans created this. They “promised” they’d pass the cromnibus then “promised” they’d rip Obama a new one when it came time to fund homeland security. Did anyone really believe they’d do it? Just another rino lie.

Yeah, if Republicans keep letting Democrats frame the debate, it will hurt.

But here’s an off-the-wall idea, Pubbies, why don’t you frame the debate?

Translation... That means it’s a BIG WIN for the Republicans.

Do you really think the Dems are interested in advising Republicans how to get elected?

Sure enough there are dumb@ss Republicans,. like McCainm that will say something like,

“We better listen to the Democrats. They are just trying to help us out.”

Fact is, Democrats are bigger proponents of crony capitalism than republicans. The only group that is against this are Conservatives.

Just look at the donor lists.

All Republicans need to do to counter the propaganda is to question publicly over and over again why they should fund a department that has been ordered by this administration to break our laws on immigration and help an invasion on our soil and why this department is being used this way. Then question publicly why and Republican should fund an organization that was set up to keep us safe from foreign terrorism that is now being used to go after conservative political groups since they have been labeled a threat by this administration.

Just keep questioning how this department is being used at every turn and see how quickly the tide turns....oh yeah, that would take some guts which republican leaders do not have.

Most amazingly Principled Opposition to Executive Fiat, Legalization of the Illegal...the issuance of SSN, Drivers License...their certain vote...is a POLITICAL WINNER.

If the Republican Party would adopt that position to go along with an impenetrable Border Wall, they would every election for the next 50 years.

It is not hard to win with this bunch of GOP morons.

The RATS know if they hold out, the GOP folds like a cheap suit.

The GOP always folds. That’s what they do.

How much is the extra budgetary requirement for the first year going to cost WE THE TAXPAYERS? Why is it not suggested that we NOT go into any further debt to fund it, but rather fund it with an income surtax of say 3% or whatever, beginning ASAP to pay for the President’s Executive order. When people start seeing less money in their paychecks, they’ll change their tune. I know..republicans asking for a tax hike.. doesn’t make sense but watch the results. It’s got to be paid for anyway.

I agree. Pelousy gets it. She said the strength of the wolf is in the pack. Dems stick together no matter what. They don’t waver or dilly dally around.

If Boehner and McConnell had just ramrodded that original House bill through and sent it to Barry’s desk. He would have vetoed it and now it would be his nightmare that the DHS is shutting down because he refused to accept the defunding of an illegal amnesty that a federal judge has slapped down. The Pubbies could be singing it on every news show. But they are weak and stupid.

Mitch McConnell was handed the reins of power but he is not equipped to wield power. He should have changed the filibuster rules and voted Boehner’s bill through on the nuclear option. You know Harry Reid would have.

"See, see you meanie-old poopy-headed right-wing Republicans! If you don't support our Dear Leader's amnesty, those precious Hispanic voters will stay home! Like they did in 2014 and 2010!"

Democrats 'frame the debate' because they're the teacher's pet. Dems command the press to write this or cover that - and they do.

We're not the teacher's pet.

We do have one big advantage. Because the press covers for democrats they're sloppy. Democrat lies are transparent to normal people... even if the press can't see them. Or pretends not to see them.

Remember democrats warning us (for our own good 'cause they 'care' sooooooo much ) that allowing the government to shut down would hurt us.

Notice the last election?

Then the biggest whopper - about how we had to accept illegals or we'd never be elected to anything? We turned to the country and said, "Dems say it's illegals vs Whites" - how do YOU feel? And the white people went OMG - and joined with us.

Democrat 'concern' was once again a lie. If they really thought we were doing something that hurt us they would stand out of our way and let us self destruct. Democrats aren't nice people - either are their shills in the press.

We don't have to worry about 'framing the debate'... Give dems enough rope (which the press does everyday for their beloved democrats) and they'll hang themselves.
