The senator behind the Assault Weapons Ban bill and a House Republican have teamed up for new gun-control legislation — to ban terrorists from buying guns.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) introduced the Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2015 in the upper chamber with co-sponsor Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Ed Markey (D-Mass.).

When I applied for my driver’s license, I checked “no” to the question, “are you a terrorist?”

So I’m good...

Democrats are masters at using just the right language and buzz words to make themselves and their proposals sound innocent and well meaning to the average uninformed guy in the street.

To most normal Americans, when someone in government refers to a terrorist we naturally assume they mean a foaming-at-the-mouth muslim yelling Allah-Akbar while shooting up a US military base, burning people alive in cages, or chopping the heads off Christians.

But to democrats and other followers of Obama, the terrorist they are really referring to is someone like a Tea Party member, a military vet with an NRA sticker on his pick-up truck, or a Christian campaigning against mandatory homosexual education in Kindergarten.

I remember (1962) when Thomas J Dodd and Emanuel Cellar wanted new Federal laws to ban the import of 5 shot bolt action army surplus rifles and a call to register ONLY handguns.
The claim was these guns were used by criminals.
A year later Oswald used an Italian army surplus rifle to kill John Kennedy and the liberal press went ballistic!

From then till 1968 the opinion pages were filled with calls for a ban on those “evil” army surplus 5 shot bolt action rifles and calls to register ALL guns.

A close scrutiny of the demand showed Dodd and Cellar were trying to ELIMINATE COMPETITION for Remington, Winchester and Savage rifle makers.
After all, why should a poor farmer (back then) pay $10.00 for a bolt action army surplus rifle to hunt with when he SHOULD BE PAYING $45.00 for a fine American made bolt action hunting rifle.

So what is the REAL REASON Diane Fienstein is so hot to ban semi-auto rifles, something the politicians in the past said they would never do?

"The bill would give the attorney general discretion to “deny the transfer of a firearm” if he or she “determines that the transferee is known (or appropriately suspected) to be or have been engaged in conduct constituting, in preparation for, in aid of, or related to terrorism, or providing material support or resources for terrorism” and “has a reasonable belief that the prospective transferee may use a firearm in connection with terrorism.”

As noted above, if they can show someone fits this definition then they have probable cause to arrest them on terrorism charges. It's clear the bill is actually intended to disarm vets, Christian conservatives, anti-abortion protestors and Tea Party types.

Given the co-sponsors this is a pretty obvious Trojan Horse. Zero chance of going anywhere but the Democrats will be screaming that Repubs don’t want to disarm terrorists. Same old tripe they roll out over and over again.

LOL. I hear what you are saying and agree you are correct but in practicality at that point in time I think the price difference between a Winchester 70 and a cheap Italian bolt action was money well spent.

Diane - you just need to make sure the terrorists are rounded up.
You shouldn’t have to worry about them BUYING or getting their hands on weapons...
These people don’t get any smarter with age, do they? She’s getting dumber every day.

She knows exactly what she is doing.

Trying to conflate fear of terrorism with the liberal agenda to gain control over gun ownership.

Democrats are more interested in forcing their world views on their fellow Americans than in killing terroists.

Once they have asserted total control here at home they will eliminate the terrorist threat with EBT cards, Job Fairs and free psychology counseling for the disaffected.

Pretty funny whern you consider that the only people I know who sell guns to terrorists and drug cartels are Obama and Holder and their gay, smelly, discolored minions.

That's why they let Chris die in Benghazi. He was the point-man selling American arms/materiel to the terrorists, and with him dead, there's no story other than his "unfortunate" death.

Ahem.

I have to believe there's a very special place in Hell for these scumbag filth-people.

Then all they have to do is declare preppers, former military, republicans and Christians as terrorists. Then comes the 3 am kicking in of the door.... We have moved out of realm of law of "innocent until proven guilty" and have now moved to denying people's rights on suspicion alone.

If you’re a US citizen you are subject to the NSA, DHS & FBI knowing everything their is to know about you and if this becomes law and if you disagree in any fashion with the US government, take to the bank, you’ll be considered a terrorist and disarmed.

yes, I’ll give you that they are scumbags. And, furthermore, I’ll even grant that they are indeed filth.

But, no way they are... um... what was that third thing you called them?

“Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), the former chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee...snip... said “common sense dictates that the federal government stop gun sales to suspects on the terrorist watch list.”

Which will be anyone we see fit to add to “the list” without due process.

Diane was well known for packing heat in California. We are sure she will certainly continue to be armed or have armed bodyguards - no matter if she gets this bill passed or not Disarmament is just for normal law- abiding Americsn citizens, not the important likes of the senator and her fellow One Percenters

--and from the liar's mouth--

“Under current law, known or suspected terrorists on terrorist watch lists are prohibited from boarding airplanes, but they are legally allowed to buy firearms and explosives anywhere in the United States. That makes no sense,” Feinstein said in a statement. “The Kouachi brothers, responsible for the attacks in Paris, were on U.S. terrorist watch lists, including the no-fly list. However, if the brothers had instead been in the United States, they would have been able to legally purchase weapons.” “Sadly, this situation isn’t rare,” she continued. “Individuals on the consolidated terrorist watch list who sought to purchase a weapon in 2013 and 2014 cleared the background check in 455 out of 486 attempts. We need to close this dangerous loophole and keep weapons out of the hands of terrorists.”
