Reporter Mocks Scott Walker For Claiming To Communicate With God Through Prayer
DC - Daily Caller ^ | February 24, 2015 | Alex Griswold, Media Reporter

Political Wire publisher Taegan Goddard got a lot of flack on Twitter after mocking Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker for claiming he could discern God’s will, only to admit that he had no idea Christians believed they could communicate with God through prayer.

It all began with a rather snarky tweet about Walker’s comments that he was still waiting for “God’s calling” before he announced a presidential run.

[snip]

As Goddard received criticism from religious followers, he shot back at critics by claiming that he wasn’t showing disdain for people of faith, even as his tone became more and more sarcastic.

[snip]

Eventually, Goddard betrayed his ignorance of basic Christian beliefs, when he seemed genuinely confused that Walker believed prayer could be used to communicate with God.

It sounds like Taegan Goddard is a blogger, not a reporter.

He's publicizing a news release from the Freedom From Religion Foundation, and would have saved himself trouble if he'd made that clear from the beginning.

Interestingly, in the piece the OpEd writer praised Jeb Bush’s response to “Is Obama a Christian?” as being “adroit.”

he seemed genuinely confused that Walker believed prayer could be used to communicate with God.

"Could be used"? That's what prayer is! It's as natural as breathing. You don't have to recite a certain phrase, be in a certain place or face in a certain direction. You just talk to Him, because wherever you are--I AM--He's there.

"Father, thank You for this day. Thank You for loving me. Thank You for providing for me. And most of all, thank You for forgiving me, in Jesus' Name."

That's it. As I typed, I didn't hear a voice answer, but I absolutely felt His love fill my heart. That's communication with God.

No amount of snarky tweets can diminish it.

So what are these people doing then?

Staring at their feet. In Hillary's case, at her hooves.

The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” (Ps 14:1)

Psalm 74: “9 We are given no miraculous signs; no prophets are left, and none of us knows how long this will be.

10 How long will the enemy mock you, O God? Will the foe revile your name forever?

11 Why do you hold back your hand, your right hand? Take it from the folds of your garment and destroy them!

12 But you, O God, are my king from of old; you bring salvation upon the earth.

I thought that’s what prayer is - communicating with God. Telling him your inner thoughts, worries, concerns, hopes, and trying to discern his response.
