AND NOW... amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke... it is time for... that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-The-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and he’s not retiring until every American agrees with him - do NOT doubt him - with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name (that’s Rush, for those in Rio Linda),the Mandarin of Talk Radio, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back — just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, all-concerned Maha-Rushie! America’s anchorman, truth detector, and doctor of democracy. A real man, a living legend, a way of life. Commander-in-Chief of U.S. Operation Chaos. Chief Waga-Waga El Rushbo of the El Conservo Tribe. Chief of the Patriotism Police. Leader of the Conservative Movement. A Weapon of Mass Instruction. El Rushbo (a little Spanish lingo, there). He is the man who is running America (you know it and I know it). He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to do — host. Get ready to what you were born to do — listen. And post your comments on the Rush Limbaugh LIVE Radio Thread.

and Michael Medved would mock and ridicule Phillips and anyone else who brought up the NAU subject.

But then Medved never has had any interest in borders unless it includes amnesty.

It would be creepy enough if it came up under a normal, American administration.

“...a normal, American administration.”

When was the last one of those? Reagan?

I trust the late Howard Phillips on the issue I think the NAU is real and that it is being advance by both Republicans and Democrats

Yeah, but he’s also not doing a good job of describing Net Neutrality.

There are two very different forms of Net Neutrality and he is acting like there is only one.

One is being pushed by Obama and it will give politicians control over the internet via the FCC. A very dangerous proposition indeed. Rush is insisting that this is the only thing going under the name of Net Neutrality, and it isn’t.

The other issue that goes under the Net Neutrality name is the problem of an ISP throttling the speed of content providers, Netflix being the best known case. Time Warner offers ISP service. But Time Warner also offers movies. So Netflix is a rival. Time Warner degrades the quality of the Netflix “signal” to try to get movie fans to use their own service.

Customers and providers of course bitterly resent this but usually haven’t the choice to go elsewhere. Proponents of Net Neutrality in this case want ISPs to be compelled to treat all data on their system the same, and not have the ability to discriminate for whatever reason.

This is basically the same common carrier issue that confronted railroad customers in the late 1800s. Instead of offering the same rate according to weight railroads would alter the rate schedule according to who the customer was. Small customers were at a great disadvantage.

And with lib-dems pretty much controlling the Fed courts, we all know how that’s going to end up.

Was there a fed court in TX that slapped Mr. Obama’s face last week on the issue of the illegals? There is hope.

Did Rush mention his friend Professor Thomas W. Hazlett?

You might also think that they would recall the notorious Fairness Doctrine, which was used to "harass and intimidate" right-wing radio broadcasts, in the words of one unabashed Kennedy-Johnson operative. When that censorious policy was ended in 1987 by former broadcaster Ronald Reagan, there was an explosion of talk formats that gave voice to popular concerns (for a while, Rush Limbaugh even billed himself as equal time).

Professor Hazlett was at U.C. Davis when Rush started in Sacramento in 1983 (84?)

The "Fairness Doctrine" did not prevent radio stations from broadcasting conservative opinions.. the FD just made it very, very expensive to do so.

"Harass and intimidate" were in the form of complaints to the FCC and the requirement that the station owners' be "fair" and give the liberals free air time -- or lose their broadcast licenses.

Now consider Obama long-time friend Sunstein who's talking about FReepers.

Here's how President Obama's head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs and author of "Repulblic.com," Cass Sunstein, describes FreeRepublic.com as "group polarization," where people segregate themselves so effectively online with other like-minded thinkers that they create an echo chamber where the group's worst and most malevolent opinions get reinforced and strengthened. "We might want to consider," Sunstein startlingly told the Times recently, "the possibility of ways of requiring or encouraging sites to link to opposing viewpoints."

He recently left the Administration.

Say no to Warder boarding the Internet.

The caller on the phone with Rush claims that w/o Net Neutrality, the service provider can offer tiered access to specific sites.

What he just described is what CABLE TV providers are doing now with specific networks!! And Cable TV is a REGULATED utility.
