Prayers to God in wrong spot? (Temple Mount location 'misplaced'?)
WND ^ | February 23, 2015 | Leo Hohman

It has been called the most contested plot of land in the world — the fissure at which three major faiths come together, and break apart.

There have been holy wars fought over it and holy writ foretelling of battles yet to come. It’s Jerusalem’s Temple Mount.

But what if history got it wrong? What if the spot where Solomon built the first Jewish Temple, and Herod built the second, was actually about 600 feet to the south, in a place known as the ancient City of David?

Enter Robert Cornuke. He travels the world solving Bible mysteries: Noah’s Ark, the Ark of the Covenant, he’s studied them in depth. Now, he’s obsessed with the Jewish Temple.

His self-deprecating sense of humor and easy-going style have helped him gain access to some of the world’s most sensitive archaeological sites.

But don’t be fooled.

He attacks each mission with the doggedness of a street cop skilled in investigations. That’s because he was a street cop for nearly a decade in California before a three-hour gun battle with a man holed up with 700 rounds of ammo some years ago caused him to rethink his career options.

His new book, “Temple: Amazing New Discoveries that Change Everything About the Location of Solomon’s Temple,” is turning heads in scholarly circles for its pure audacity.

To suggest that the traditional Temple Mount, where Jews have prayed at the Wailing Wall and where Muslims pray at the Dome of the Rock, is actually not the holy ground they believe it to be, is sacrilege to many historians and archaeologists, not to mention clerics.

Yet, his case is so well researched that it’s hard to ignore. Many are reading, and re-reading, perhaps hoping to find some obvious blunder that would allow them to discount its conclusion.

Questions for the researcher:

OK, 600 feet in what direction in relation to the existing structure?

Then, given the dimensions of the Temple, would there be any overlap?

This book by Robert Cornuke expands on the work of Ernest Martin. Here's the sketch of the Temple and Roman Fortress (Temple Mount) from Ernest Martin's website www.askelm.com.

The wailing wall is the wall at the base of the Dome of the Rock mosque. It’s where Jews go to pray because they think it’s where the original temple was and that’s as close as they can get.

Here are some pics:

The wailing wall is one of the walls of the Roman fort he says.

All historical accounts DO say the temple was completely destroyed. No one mentioned a wall standing?

The book isn’t so knew. I read it over a year ago.

Interesting book. The site where they believe the temple was is not on shared land.. The land in question where they believe the Temple was belongs solely to Israel.

True. And we know from Daniel 9:27 and Revelation that the Temple will be rebuilt because sacrifices at the Temple must be reinstated before the AntiChrist desecrates the altar during the tribulation.

What we call the Temple Mount was really the Roman Fortress. The Wailing Wall is the remains of the Roman Fortress walls. Jesus prophesied that Jerusalem would be destroyed and that “not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.” (Mark 13:2). The reason the stones around the Temple Mount were not thrown down is because that was the property of Rome where the Roman Legion lived.

Whaw?

You never heard of the wailing wall?

It is believed to be the only wall left of the original temple, from about 4,000 years ago.

Men pray on one side, ladies on the other.

You can walk up to it, with head slightly bowed, in an act of reverence.

Men and women place written prayers in between cracks, crevices and bricks.

There is one for my Mom in the wall...maybe...that was twenty years ago....

“Islam In The End Times”, by Ellis Skolfield, copyright 2007.

Page 42 with “bird’s-eye-view” photograph.

“The Temple Mount as seen from the North. The Islamic memorial, the Dome of the Rock, stands in its center as it has for over 1300 years. In the upper left is the Al Aqsa Mosque, considered by Moslems to be their 3rd most holy. Circled in the lower right is a little, unimposing cupola, the Dome of the Tablets. Late archeological evidence indicates that the Holy of Holies in both the Solomonic and 2nd Temple was located here, some 330 feet North of the Dome itself. The Dome appears to be in what was onced called the Court of the Gentiles.”

The Jewish Temple is on the left side of the picture in post #4.

The wailing wall is at the top of the right side of the picture/temple mount. The Roman Temple is in the middle of the temple mount.

The Dome of the Rock would be the Roman Fortress of Antonia

So, why would a wall still be standing. Wouldn’t that be mentioned?

A field of weeds, and a 40 foot tall wall standing about 100 feet long or so. Yet no one mentions it?

Yep, that's the conundrum.

I believe this idea came out back in the 1980s.
