After Jimmy Morris found out his daughters boyfriend beat her in front of her children, police say he took matters into his own hands, grabbed a baseball bat and knocked him over the head.
When police arrived at the scene, Courtney Grace pointed a finger at Morris, but a crowd surrounding the pair said Grace was the one who beat his girlfriend, who was sitting in the bed of a truck with her hands holding her swollen and bloody face, according to the police report.
Morris, 59, was released under supervision from the Palm Beach County Jail. Grace, 31, remains in jail on $15,000 bail on charges of child neglect and battery in the same incident.
On Feb. 3, Grace picked up his girlfriend and their two children from Lake Worth when he confronted her about possibly cheating on him, according to the report. As he drove, police say he hit the woman repeatedly in the face. She was able to call family and thats when her father showed up and confronted the boyfriend on the 1500 block of 44th Street, just west of North Australian Avenue.
Morris grabbed a baseball bat from his truck and hit him over the head with it, according to the report. Police say Morris hit the 31-year-old so hard that the bat split in two. When police spoke with Grace, he was holding his head and complained of pain in his shoulder, but they did not indicate serious injures in their report.
Grace was sent to the hospital before he was arrested.
His girlfriend was also taken to the hospital for the swelling and bleeding on her face from the earlier beating, according to the report. Her condition is unknown at this time.
Morris does not appear to have a record in Palm Beach County. Grace was previously arrested for robbery in November.
Take the guy shark fishing and have a tragic boating accident?
Not that there’s anything wrong with that...
;)
“You just never know what will make a normal person snap.”
Beat a mans daughter and you’ll find out real quick.
“if the law meant anything, fathers would not have to go after their dtrs attackers...the cops would get to them first....”
Back in the early 70’s a young Deputy and his partner got a call to a domestic. When they rolled up a young lady was laying in the front yard cut bruised and beaten. The young deputy recognized the female as a young girl he had dated in high school before he went into the Army. The deputy called the mother of the female and had her come pick her up. The male was cuffed and put in the back of the patrol car and taken about 3 miles out in the county, taken out of the car and uncuffed. The deputies then proceeded to kick the chit out of him, last thing he heard from them before they left him there was “If we ever see her with another mark on her we’ll come back and do it again”. She stayed with her mother until the divorce was final, he left town the day after the incident and was a no show for the court date. She stayed in town and later met a nice young man just starting in the oilfields, almost 40 years later they’ve had 3 daughters and built up a very nice business as an independent oil producer in West Texas.
Pick handles are better.
Still, even without a follow-up shot or ten, Dad gets a thumbs up.
Yep. They use the alleged cheating as justification for the beating.
I have seen the other, more complex situation where (usually in the presence of alcohol) she eggs him on until he abuses her, then basks in the honeymoon and sympathy from all her girl friends. Lather, rinse, repeat, in some sick sort of codependency.
There are some messed up people out there.
There is no amount of “egging on” that justifies a beating when you’ve got two legs to walk away on.
I never said there was. I have seen functional guys walk away, even as they were being assaulted.
I was just describing a sick form of relationship I have observed. Keep in mind, too that there is alcohol (massive quantities) generally involved in those situations on a daily basis. Humans have an incredible ability to mix dysfunctions, but (chronic excessive) alcohol tends to be a base for a host of other problems.

As Clint Eastwood said in Pale Rider “Nothing like a nice piece of Hickory”.
When my brother-in-laws future son-in-law ask for his daughters hand he asked the guy if he loved his daughter and how much. He said Mr. Lee...I love her enough to die for her. My brother-in-law said “I love her enough to kill for her” !!!

We called them 911 Regulars, had to deal with them on a weekly basis. Finally just started throwing them both in jail and charged them with mutual combat. Puts an end to the calls at least, some left the county to be some other jurisdiction problem.
Buy yourself an aluminum bat next time!
Iirc, that is what the local constabulary eventually did, too. Sort of a 'grow up and sort it out without beating on each other' thing.
But some of it was so calculating (and overheard) that if she wanted something he didn't want to buy, she'd provoke the incident and collect during the 'honeymoon'.

That isn't saying all, or even most of it is 'invited' by a longshot, and too many women live in fear because they don't know how to get out.
Better yet for a woman to establish a simple rule: one hit and she's gone, no looking back.
