As Scott Walker mulls White House bid, questions linger over college exit

MILWAUKEE — Scott Walker was gone. Dropped out. And in the spring of his senior year.

In 1990, that news stunned his friends at Marquette University. Walker, the campus’s suit-wearing, Reagan-loving politico — who enjoyed the place so much that he had run for student body president — had left without graduating.

Huh? I didn’t know about how long he was in, and how much he has left. That is going to be problem if there is one. That more than not graduating. But, it could be perfectly innocent. Hell, I took a year off when my dad was diagnosed with cancer. So it took me a while to finish.

But, if it is in anyway “juicy”, there will be sharks circling in the primary, long before the general election. I can’t imagine Bush and the other “centrists” will give anybody a pass...

He’s already explained it? I hadn’t heard. Why don’t you share with us on the thread? I don’t recall another post discussing the answer.

If this is all they got, I like Scott Walkers chances. The good people of Wisconsin voted him in as Governor 3 times even though he didn’t have a degree.

And most Americans DON’T have a degree. So it’ll be hard for the left to paint him as an out of touch elitist.

Ridiculous. Just because your priority would have been finishing your last year doesn’t mean it was Walker’s. You need to consider things from viewpoints other than your own.

Who cares? Also, anyone nosy enough to demand Walker’s transcripts had better be intellectually honest enough to demand Obama’s.

Not Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, or Mark Zuckerberg finished college.

Nor George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Harry Truman. Yet they seemed to do okay as POTUS. (Putting it mildly.)

There is probably a time coming, and it might just be here now, when a college degree is a negative indicator when one considers the muck they teach as values.

It depends on the degree. A degree in some non traditional study such as Womens Studies or something stupid like that will obviously show a potential employer that you really have no clue about how the world works and would also be a warning to anyone who might consider hiring them that they are a lawsuit waiting to happen.

My younger son took an intensive 90 hours only in IT after getting out of the Air Force as an IT guy. He’s making well into six figures. Focused on the data and rejected the fluff.

Maybe so, dear brother in Christ.

What seems clear to me is that Howard Dean's objection to Gov. Walker on grounds of his lack of a college degree is a "class thing." The "ruling class" must have college degrees, dontcha know!

And yet I have met so many people in my life who have degrees "up the ying–yang" who are total ignoramuses on any subject matter outside their educational specialty. Such are precisely the sort of "rulers" I strongly prefer not to be "ruled by."

They simply have no concept of what they don't know. But their degrees give them endless self-confidence, and self-satisfaction....

My oldest son dropped out of college to become a radio disc jockey. He later decided to apprentice as a transmitter engineer at a station he was working at. He is now regional engineering manager for a huge radio network making a six figure income. No college. Just hard work.

I know the old saying is, “it’s not what you know; it’s who you know”, but the truth is that the “what you know” part of that equation is really important.

If what you know is women’s studies, gay studies, the history of American imperialism, and the rich and their hateful millions, then you might as well know nothing. You’ve gone from qualifications to BS in the school cafeteria all the way to qualifications to qualifications to BS at the family reunion.

One thing I do know is that I’d like these elite ignoramuses (ignorami? :>) the bash Walker over his lack of degree. 80+% of voting age America does NOT have a degree.

Nothing like having the democrats tell 80% of America that they’re worthless trash because they don’t have a piece of paper.

It would make a great campaign commercial.

“Democrats led by Hillary Clinton/Elizabeth Warren/Joe Biden/say that Americans without degrees are wasting oxygen and should pay a quick visit to an ObamaCare death panel....”

Indeed, dear brother in Christ. They must be very worried about Walker, to try to take him out of the game, on such wholly gratuitous grounds, so early in the 2016 presidential election cycle.

Gratuitous, because according to my latest count, at least seven presidents had not earned college degrees. Indeed, George Washington himself had no formal education at all beyond what we today call the "primary" level.

Grover Cleveland had not attended any college at all.

All of which is to say that 16% of the presidents of the United States did not hold at least a baccalaureate degree.

But it turns out that of this 16%, these non-college-graduates included some of the most consequential presidents in the history of the United States of America: E.g., Washington, Lincoln, Truman.

Go figure.

They must be very worried about Walker

Of course, “they” (Liberals) are very worried about Walker. His record in Wisconsin makes that inevitable. We may judge how viable Walker’s candidacy is by the volume of Liberal lunacy and hysteria hurled in his direction. Personally, I expect the volume to become deafening. Liberals are devolving to their usual tactic; ignore the issue (s), attack the person.
