I was merely making a statement, that I did not know what these weapons looked like when detonating.

I wasn’t attributing a certain action to any event.

I’m not what your trying to convey.

We *know* that semiconductors, unless properly shielded get wiped by an EMP. Period. It’s a big vulnerability for modern tech, because vacuum tubes are the only kind of electronics that can take an EMP unshielded and keep working.

Handheld consumer electronics do not have EMP protection. We used that to our advantage in Kosovo starting with the cold EMP bombs (non-nuclear EMP generation) first deployed there to zap cell phones and computers in areas of operation.

Not nuclear, I’m seeing reports of a Russian ammo dump going boom, hopefully lots of Russian casualties!

No way that’s a nuke of any kind. If it was the Europeans and the Baltic states would be going bat-sh*t crazy right now and it would be reported all over the web on every news site. No way it could be hidden it would be the biggest story since 9-11.

A Boeing B-52 strategic bomber being prepared for EMP testing at Trestle in 1982.

Short answer, yes. The US have conducted tests.

A shock wave is super sonic so you can’t tell distance using Time x Speed of sound.

The best clue is the gamma ray burst the a nuke gives off. We have satellites that would spot an air burst nuke in about 3 seconds.

“A shock wave is super sonic so you can’t tell distance using Time x Speed of sound.”

Dead wrong, it travels at the speed of sound. about 1050 fps. Ask any grunt. And yes, that is exactly how you can estimate distance. Flash to bang. Military does it a the time.

You are confusing velocity of the fragments etc. The compression wave is not supersonic, it travels neatly at the speed of sound. About 5 seconds per mile. Pistol report, up to atomic bomb, all the same.

You have no F###ing idea who set it or where it was. Maybe it was the Ukrainian government and they were bombing a Russian ammo dump.
May
Be it was the Russians happy to kill some more Ukrainian civilians.

We had “ dial a nuke “ tactical weapons when I was in the AF in the 80s. Variable yield.
We used to practice a “nuke lay down “ delivery where we came screaming in at 600kts at treetop and would drop a drougue retarded bomb on a 45 second delay to give us time to exit the blast area. For hardened command bunkers.

Well, you can hear the sound from the explosion. EMP wipes out audio recording before sound waves. Probably not a nuke. Probably a lot of explosives though.

Ukraine hit a chemicals/weapons plant held by the rebels. It was a missile strike.
