Responsible Gun Ownership
Democrat Gun Owners Association of America ^ | June 12th, 2014 | Jim Lewis

Posted on 02/08/2015 8:31:55 AM PST by Q-ManRN

Like almost every Democrat, I also support the Second Amendment and the fundamental right to bear arms. At the same time, I also believe in common sense legislation to restrict felons and the mentally ill from possessing firearms. I support laws that require background checks and limit access to high explosives.

For the last thirty years, Democrats have allowed the NRA and the Republican Party to define us as people who want to take your guns away. It is time for the Democratic Party to define its own position rather than allowing others that privilege.

Surely, responsible gun owners like myself can see that a gun in every car, guns in every bar, guns in every business parking lot, guns in every church, guns at little league ball games, and guns at political rallies create a dangerous and unstable situation.

I firmly believe that we, the responsible gun owners of Tennessee of every political persuasion, can come together and find a way to possess guns for protection and sport and still severely limit the abilities of criminals, terrorists, and crazy people to possess the killing machine of their choice.

No one in America has or will “come to take it away from you.” Not Democrats, not Republicans. That’s a fantasy concocted by the NRA and dishonest politicians to scare you into voting their way.

Notice how opposes guns in the very places you need them most (in your car where you need to transport it, to prevent carjackings, to prevent ATM robberies, etc...) you do some research on this guy and I bet you find out he’s only fied a BB gun and trying an incrementalist approach. We get the explosives part but they’re already regulated and I noticed it sure as hell didn’t stop the Boston Bombers. Go sell your wares elsewhere...

Balding_Eagle said “When confronted with an easily provable lie, don’t waste any of your life reading further.”

True to a point. As I said to another Freeper is that this is a slick con job using phrases like “reasonable people” & “common sense” to target people who take both sides on issues trying to appear moderate for the purpose of wooing them into the gun control movement. Naturally, once these people are suckered by the rhetoric in the gun control movement, they become Democrats.

Therefore, it is worthwhile to study their rhetoric so that we know how to respond in a way that demonstrates the value of becoming a conservative. That is how I went from being raised a liberal Democrat to becoming a conservative.

It was the NRA that mandated instant background checks and a shared criminal database, not the fake waiting periods that did not mandate an actual criminal check.

It was the NRA that pointed out the failures of GOVERNMENT from updating their databases with mental health information.

But, most liberal proposals never fix a problem....they masquerade as a fix until the designed-in flaws are discovered which triggers a new round of legislation to fix the fix.

Liberal programs do not work.....ever.

> I recently came across a Democrat political group that bills itself as being pro-Second Amendment organization. However, when I examined their rhetoric closely, they are firmly against what the Second Amendment protects.

This is a tactic that the Left employs to fool naive LIVs and conservatives, particularly since Obama took office. They creat these activist groups that have a name that is 180 degrees of what they say it which attracts the target crowd whise opinion it is they want to change then use psychological mubo jumbo on the soft minded to agree with them and change public opinion. It also makes it easier to collect donations from people who arent paying attention. Groups like Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, the Gun Violence Policy Center, or the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence are setup to look like they are to protect the public butbtheir hidden agenda is none of the kind instead focusing on disarmament. All of them have “gun safety” or prevention of “gun violence” in their names, but even their names are lies. All of them focus on restricting firearms – gun control – while ignoring the fact that gun control laws have no impact on gun violence and no relation to gun safety. Yes I know I'm preaching to the crowd for the most part but even if it reaches one LIV it will be worth it to me.

This guy isn’t even good at it, and he’s also AFRAID to allow comments on his site..

The Democrats are GETTING KILLED over the gun control issue - more than ANY OTHER ISSUE. Every attempt to grab guns (ok, more like ‘regulate’ them, and then grab them) is met with MILLIONS OF NEW GUN OWNERS, none of which want to see their guns seized - and they gravitate to Republicans. A lot of them are union types, who would otherwise vote for Democrats.

But the Democrats are UNABLE to control their own politicians enough to let gun control go away. Just last week a bunch of them introduced legislation in the House to limit magazine sizes to 10 rounds...they just keep pushing it. Now the NRA has a new, 2015 threat, that they can legitimately seize on to further discredit Democrats.

So don’t be surprised as more of these ‘Grass Roots’ types come out of the woodwork...they need to CONVINCE Americans that their guns will be safe with Democrats in power. If they cannot do that, they will get DECIMATED by white voters and won’t even win the Hispanic vote by much. This is EXACTLY what happened in the South last year - if it starts happening in the Midwest, Republicans become the DOMINANT PARTY (hence my tag line).

The media WILL NOT tell you any of this...because they understand the stakes here. The Democrats, with media help, will instead continue to try to convince Republicans that AMNESTY is their only hope of remaining a national party, because the white vote has dropped from 80% to 70%. But the dirty little secret that they know, but Republicans are TOO DUMB TO FIGURE OUT, is that if those 70% effectively vote as a block for Republicans, as they did in Mississippi with 89% voting Republican, the DEMOCRATS, instead, are FINISHED as a national party...at least for a very long time.

Gun control is one of the only issues, maybe the only issue, that cause this to happen.

I originally thought about making those points, but I felt my analysis was long enough. Thank you for pointing that out.

Its an anonymous registration. Whoever filed it fid it out of country to conceal their true identity and make it more difficult and costly to subpoena the records. First clue they aren’t who or what they really say they are.

When they start babbling about “common sense” they are claiming a monopoly on it. I will continue to rely on MY common sense!

Sorry to burst his bubble, but as gun ownership increased, gun crimes decreased. In England, when guns were outlawed, gun crimes took a huge jump.

Anyone who calls themselves a “Democrat” today is a lying totalitarian, or the willfully ignorant tool of lying totalitarians.

If a person identifies themself as a Democrat and is not speaking about confiscating firearms, private property, or regulating personal behavior, they are simply lying.

I was also stuck by the fact that the author of the original article mentioned absolutely no details regarding his ownership of firearms. Like you, that fact makes me very suspicious. Given his stated beliefs & age, I would not be surprised if he used guns during military training and service, but not in civilian life. In the liberal mind, it is alright for soldiers to use guns for training & on the battlefield, but it is not alright to use guns in civilian life.

Those beliefs make it possible for anti-gun liberals to serve as soldiers in our military.

No one in America has or will “come to take it away from you.”

Bull, that is exactly what happened in Katrina. Police and Nat Guard went door to door taking guns from law abiding citizens.

“Like almost every Democrat, I have a profound lack of causality and pattern recognition, so I steadfastly adhere to a foolish, 19th Century philosophy that consistently fails in all regards, but hurts vast numbers of people along the way.

“I hit myself on the hand with a claw hammer repeatedly in hope of making my hand stop hurting, that somehow the claw hammer will absorb the pain from my hand.

“And I believe that all other people are like me, so must be controlled and guided in all things by a government of people like me.”
