Gallup CEO: Number of Full-Time Jobs as Percent of Population Is Lowest It’s Ever Been (Video)
The Gateway Pundit ^ | 2/5/2015 | Jim Hoft

Posted on 02/05/2015 11:06:33 AM PST by Beave Meister

Gallup CEO and Chairman Jim Clifton doubled-down on his comments earlier in the week on the misleading Obama unemployment rate.

Obama says the unemployment rate is 5.6% which is very misleading.

Clifton went on America’s Newsroom today to explain the misleading government numbers.

“The number of full-time jobs, and that’s what everybody wants, as a percent of the total population, is the lowest it’s ever been… The other thing that is very misleading about that number is the more people that drop out, the better the number gets. In the recession we lost 13 million jobs. Only 3 million have come back. You don’t see that in that number. “

Labor Force Statistics from the Census Bureau Current Population Survey (CPS) and other federal sources. Comparing Obama to other administrations.

The data are annualized except when noted otherwise. All are monthly or quarterly. I use the last month / quarter of the year.

Much of the size of this is taken up by instructions on how to get the sources of the data and much, much more data! I assume Gallop obtained their own stats. Here however are government stats that confirm some Gallop stats. The three years are Reagan, preceding the last recession, and Obama. (Job numbers times one thousand.)

full time
jobs
population percentage year % counting
part time jobs
91297 240130 38.0198226% 1986 46.012993%
121621 301230 40.3747967% 2007 48.5834744%
119707 319470 37.470498% 2014 46.1276489%

Taking into account the year preceding the administrations, compare the first six years of Reagan and Obama. Examples: using these spread sheet formulas:
(1986 value - 1980 value) / 1980 value and
(2014 value - 2008 value) / 2008 value

I get

If you take into account the 2007 number of Employed full time 121621 [thousands] Obama's number would be negative. About all that happened is despite Obama most of the jobs lost in the first few years of his admnistration were recovered by the end of 2014.

Gee. How come Obama had such big decreases in (Col 9.) Unemployed and (Col 10) Unemployed looking for full-time work? Guess.

Col 11 and Col 12 are the Unemployment rate and Unemployment rate of the full-time labor force, respectively. The rest of the columns are:

I attempted to bring together several federal government sources to compare Reagan to Obama. It pretty much confirms what the Gallop stats reveal about Obama.

Plus my original Reagan-Obama comparison IMO points to several failings of Obama

The proof is in the federal government figures.. I am trying to understand the myriad ways of getting at them and around the phony data put out by the aged 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus radical, psycho spoiled brats and their ideological litters occupying buildings on their make-believe campus of Beltway University.

BTW, IIRC you replied to one of my replies by pointing to your tag line. Yes I remember the Pogo comics.

I had merely changed we to they and met to vet. They meaning the government.

In fact a certain talk show host has twice (that I personally heard) claimed that Walt Kelly could possibly have taken the quote from him.

RE "WALL OF TEXT!"

Like in too much information? All text no graphics?

Yes it is.

After years and years of links to sources I thought the best way is to post the data and include the source only as verifications. Also, too often the threads' replies' sources mere cited other columns or government agencies and not were you could find the actual data.

If I get banned then so be it.

Here is how it goes:

“We have met the enemy, and he is us.”
I came up with that a while back..
Yes, my tagline originates from an old “Pogo” cartoon”.

If I tried to explain it out further it would say:
“We the People” have met the enemy, and he is “We the People”.

It is my belief that our nation is not in peril because of
people like Harry Reed, Nancy Pelosi, and Barack Obama;
but our nation is in peril because because of
“our fellow Americans” who believe that
people like Harry Reed, Nancy Pelosi, and Barack Obama are a good idea.

I can’t help but think back to the movie called “A Christmas Story”
when the Bumpass’s Dogs came in the kitchen and ate the Christmas turkey.
It was not the dog’s fault; it was the Bumpass’s fault.
The dogs were just doing what dogs do.

You can not blame Nancy, Harry, and Obama for who they are,
they are just doing what they naturally do.

If you were to somehow get rid of Nancy, Harry, and Barack,
the people who voted them into office would vote in someone just like them.
The problem is not Nancy, Harry, and Obama, the problem is the electorate.

That is what my tagline means.

Yes, I am not condemning you,
but that was just too much information for a normal person to absorb.
I’m trying to be constructive.

Yes I understand and appreciate the explanations. Very nice.

I personally think more along the lines of Lincoln's "house divided" having been a kind of news junky since 1950.

True, the two views are very similar but I see it more as a result of progressives and the New Left infiltration and indoctrination resulting in "statism" (Levin's meaning) versus freedom. I have often posted Lincoln's speech replacing slavery with the word statism. The outcome could well be civil war unless my 1970s tag line finally comes true.

As for my "wall of text" reply the Gallop posting was exactly what it was for. A reference. Here I had gathered the necessary data from several government sources. Lets see the Left debate their own governmemt's data.
