In his recent trip to India, President Obama repeated a long-standing pattern of his denigrating the United States to foreign audiences. He said that he had been discriminated against because of his skin color in America, a country in which there is, even now, "terrible poverty."
Make no mistake about it, there is no society of human beings in which there are no rotten people. But for a President of the United States to be smearing America in a foreign country, whose track record is far worse, is both irresponsible and immature.
Years after the last lynching of blacks took place in the Jim Crow South, India's own government was still publishing annual statistics on atrocities against the untouchables, including fatal atrocities. The June 2003 issue of "National Geographic" magazine had a chilling article on the continuing atrocities against untouchables in India in the 21st century.
Nothing that happened to Barack Obama when he was attending a posh private school in Hawaii, or elite academic institutions on the mainland, was in the same league with the appalling treatment of untouchables in India. And what Obama called "terrible poverty" in America would be called prosperity in India.
The history of the human race has not always been a pretty picture, regardless of what part of the world you look at, and regardless of whatever color of the rainbow the people have been.
If you want to spend your life nursing grievances, you will never run out of grievances to nurse, regardless of what color your skin is. If some people cannot be rotten to you because of your race, they will find some other reason to be rotten to you.

Another day, a bunch more lies.
Par for the course with the Liar-in-Chief.
Thomas Sowell for President! We need an intelligent man, who wants the best for our country!
Sowell hits the nail right on the head again. I’ve been a fan of Thomas Sowell since I was a teenager.
For more than the 40 years that I have been following him, this fine American has hit every nail square on the head and hit it hard; yet he is unknown to most Americans and instead, we have the Manchurian in the White House.
The people of India should have tarred and feathered him for using the words “terrible poverty” and “United States” in the same sentence.
Dr. Sowell is”Spot On”(as per)!We are bending over backwards to accomodate while we are IGNORING our OWN!!!!!!!!!!!
As he is responsible to the Marxian ideal, he has taken the responsibility needed to destroy the greatest free enterprise system on earth. His lack of maturity is a bonus in that process.
PS - Also, I refuse to believe that Barack Hussein Obama was ever discriminated AGAINST in the United States because of his racial background. The times during which he has lived in the United States have been periods of giving additional [and large] BENEFITS to people of his background.
I couldn’t agree more, he has led a very entitled and pampered life.
I see that “terrible poverty” buying junk food on my dime and driving away on 24” rims all the time.
So, let me see if I got this right ... the guy who got elected to be president twice in a row has been discriminated against?
Well, he sat in the pews of “God - d@#$! America” for many years.
Something sank in.
100% of those classified as being impoverished in India would beg to be a member of that class in the U.S. along with a sizable percentage of their middle class.
Sowell is a great writer except when it gets serious and he joins the RINO’s (remember when he wrote something like 3 attack columns in a row on Cruz?)
Obama will be fighting obesity in Ethiopia soon enough
America is under judgement. God put Obama in that position. If America survives, and remains under judgement, we will next see Hillary in the office.
