SAN ANTONIO -- Thousands of immigrants seeking legalization through the U.S. court system have had their hearings canceled and are being told by the government that it may be 2019 or later before their futures are resolved.
Some immigration lawyers fear the delay will leave their clients at risk of deportation as evidence becomes dated, witnesses disappear, sponsoring relatives die and dependent children become adults.
The increase in cancellations began late last summer after the Justice Department prioritized the tens of thousands of Central American migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, most of them mothers with children and unaccompanied minors.
Immigration lawyers in cities that absorbed a large share of those cases, including New York, San Antonio, Los Angeles and Denver, say they've had hearings canceled with little notice and received no new court dates. Work permits, green cards, asylum claims, and family reunifications hang in the balance.
Denver immigration lawyer David Simmons said he's never seen such a standstill in nearly 30 years of practice. "There is no maneuverability," he said. "It's as if we have no court at all."

Stall, stall, stall, and then stall some more!
pathetic
How much longer should taxpayers be enablers for this type of conduct?
And I wonder which member of the administration provided the information for this news article to the MSM?
Four more years’ worth of anchor babies to keep most of them here...
This site is pretty clear on the original intent and rulings.

TRANSLATION: The Justice Department, upon orders from the executive branch, allowed ILLEGAL Central American "migrants", many of whom are gang members and criminals; mothers with sick children, and minors traveling alone, to enter the US with priority status (FAVORED) over the thousands of immigrants who are following the LEGAL process for entering the US.
This is Obama's doing. Sounds like an impeachable offense to me.
Sounds like they are saying that those seeking citizenship the legal way are being delayed in favor of those here illegally?
And driver’s licenses, so that they can vote in the 2016 election.
Did you see 2016: Obama’s America?
Just the thought gives me the chills. The extent to which they’ve done everything possible to undo America as we’ve known it, and are not about to let up.
Trillions of dollars of debt and destruction... they ain't never gonna pay that off, lol. Satan's workers' paradise is going to come as a shock to these entitled, racist, America-hating grifters.
Imagine the scene as that snarling pampered mother-in-law is dragged off with the lot of them, stamping her feet and instisting that she isn't actually an "Obama".
Warms the heart. :)
Congress (a few members anyway) manage to pay lip service to the American People and play the good cop, but Congress is squarely on Team Obama. And they've diligently created, nourished, and coddled their government-dependent underclass and worshipers, so that the "civilian army" will ready and eager to follow orders to keep the loot rolling in.
The foreign invaders are welcomed in to serve the same purpose against the lawful American People.
Arrogant Belshazzar and his circle of cohorts' profane use of the holy temple vessels is a picture of the Obama admin. Makes the Clinton regime seem scrupulously ethical by comparison.
Why bother with the pretense. They’re here and they’re going to stay here. Period.
They’ll go and vote for Democrats in every coming election.
and Gov. Walker does not support deportation.
Having an “anchor baby” in and of itself will not necessarily help an illegal who is here right now.
(All of what follows is per the current LAW - Obama may certainly try to circumvent it, but here goes) -
Someone born in this country who wants to sponsor his parent(s) for Lawful Permanent Residence (= the “green card”) cannot begin the visa-petition process until s/he is 21. Said parent(s), who would be the beneficiary of such a visa petition, cannot, IF they’ve entered the country illegally, get the green card within the US (with very, very, few exceptions) - they would have to leave the US and go to a US consulate overseas, BUT
if they have been in the US illegally for longer than a year, and then they leave the US and try to re-enter, they are barred from re-entering for 10 years. There is a waiver from this “10-year bar,” which can be granted by the consulate (and the current administration is working on having such waivers adjudicated here in the US), so Obama and Kerry could provide pressure on the consular people to grant any/ALL applications for waivers.
Sorry for the lenght.
Current law or any law for that matter doesn’t mean squat to democrats and liberal and sending illegals home is not something they are going to do.
I didn’t say it matters to democrats what the law is. Only wanted to point out what actions by the current regime might or might not get knocked down by the courts.
But as Yogi Berra once said, “Making predictions is difficult, especially about the future.”
Absolutely. There is no reason that the anchor baby interpretation can’t be reversed.
The only thing that is missing is patriotism among the GOP establishment and their Democrat twins in the treason lobby.
They have dedicated themselves to representing foreign nationals who violate our laws. The average American can get screwed.
