There is nothing that liberals despise more than free choice for others.

My dad, born in ‘08, voted for him once, fooled by the fancy footwork, but came to his senses as the odor of socialism became obvious. He believed FDR adored and feared Stalin. FDR’s adoption of Keynes’ economic theories are the direct reason we have the debt we have today.

The people of that time gave up their gold without a fight and they’re called “The Greatest Generation”. Go figure.

Social Security was the beginning of it. What was so nervy about it was that the idea was sold to churches on a benevolence appeal, not warning them that this was going to be a new form of “Caesar charity” that sought to eclipse the grace of God.

There is a reason why my grandmother, a good New York City Irish catholic despised the man.

As did my maternal grandfather. Grandpa reacted to FDR much as I do to BHO, and with many of the same naughty words.

Tradition!

A war handily distracted America from attention to such issues.

And now that this has been repealed, the rationale is seen for the sham it was/is.

FDR was a tyrant, not quite so bad as the other tyrants abroad in the 30’s and 40’s but awful enough to have left us with fiat currency and social security. He is, IMHO, the worst president in our history.

It’s one thing to curse such darknesses.

Who can light some candles?

if everyone were to light a candle, it would be bright as day

light a candle whenever you’re exposed to the darkness of the left.

never let their bs go unchallenged.

The gold was confiscated in 1933, well before Americans were distracted by war. Roosevelt had stolen all the gold by 1934, 7 years before Pearl Harbor. He did it by Executive Order, failure to comply was punishable by heavy fines and up to 10 years in prison. What a guy, no wonder Democrats worship him.

FDR needed Wilson for his own “success”. without our illegal help there would not have been a Lusitania incident and our entrance into WWI and the conditions that brought all the 1920-30s dictators.

My maternal grandfather was a New Deal Democrat who actually met FDR on gov’t business, and my grandfather became disenchanted with the whole thing and started voted Republican.

And he was wheelchair-bound... some in that position seek to rise above conventional limitations but I wonder if he felt a desire to avenge his misfortune on... well, on just what I don’t know, but I can tell about the passion of wanting to find something, anything to bash in the face of great misfortune.

It’s possible that could have “sprinkled bad blood” over the circumstances... pretty heinous bad blood given the rise and acceptance of a Hitler.

It was actually the parents of “the greatest generation” who gave it up. My grandparents talked about it; they didn’t give up their few coins that easily.
