Yesterday we witnessed the disgraceful episode of protesters disrupting a Senate hearing to protest the presence as a witness of 91-year-old Henry Kissinger who as Secretary of State allegedly helped engineer the coup in which General Pinochet drove the communist Allende from power if one of the very rare occasions in which failed socialism was actually reformed by enlightened capitalism.

The result was the creation of the best economy in South America and perhaps the best economy in all of the Americas. Such a result was anathema to the left and they have been trying to criminalize both Pinochet and Kissinger ever since. The left objects to any violence associated with the coup but they fail to acknowledge the reality that socialists once in power rig the system so that there can be no reform by Democratic means. When the socialists take over, like Muslim extremists, there is one vote but only one time.

However the general rule applies even and fair elections, when socialism fails the demagogues prevail and gain power in the wake of the inevitable dislocations and human suffering by offering even more socialism.

Those conservatives who think that it is better to let the left collapse the system than to fight every inch of the way to consider this Maxim. Those conservatives who believe that ultimately there salvation will come from the Second Amendment should consider this Maxim even more. The power of the Second Amendment, like the useful power of the nuclear bomb, lies mostly in its power to deter.

i like thatcher’s analogy the best.

socialism is great, until you run out of other people’s money.

That “Code Pink” was protesting in favor of Chilean traitor and paid Soviet agent Allende was all one needed to know about their ideology. You’d think those Communist pigs would be happy that one of their fellow travelers is in the White House.

Apart from the risk of civil suit for getting it wrong, I can see no downside in publishing an Internet map on their location much like that which is available for child molesters.

Journalists should not enjoy anonymity since they profit from exposing others. Let's have another map.

Greece will not end well. Blood, starvation, rationing of goods and ideas. The nation will go left as far as possible—loot the rich, loot the cutural heritage, loot all that is good before heading right. I fear lots of folks will die. It has happened before—Just ask any Cuban.

The title reminds me of the song an old man, who loved music until the end, wrote: “I Don’t Look Good Naked Anymore”.

Exactly. It happened in Soviet Russia also, with terror mass murder on a scale that daunts the human mind.

It may happen in Venezuela.

If the US Fed pumped stock market collapses, we could see a mini-version of it happen in the US as well. I believe we are a nation under judgment.

Nothing wrong with nude beaches or nudist resorts or nudist neighborhoods. 2 miles from me is the largest clothes optional resort in the US, one of 10 in the conservative-libertarian Pasco County.

Contrary to popular belief, conservatives are nudists.

That was a scary article.

I recall Anne Rice put forth the same Feminocracy in one of her vampire books: the solution to all life’s problems is to exterminate 90% of the male population.

I don’t doubt for a minute that if Leftists achieve total power, that genocides wouldn’t follow. It’s happened every time they do.

Those conservatives who think that it is better to let the left collapse the system than to fight every inch of the way to consider this Maxim.

Looking at Venezuela and Greece, the maxim holds true. On the other hand, America, even today, ain't like neither of those, General. America confounds both conservatives and statists alike. Conservatives wonder why more Americans are not conservative and Progressives wonder why more Americans do not buy into Liberalism. America has troubled, and awed, the Soviets and Nazis and despots the world over.

The truly committed statists believe that when America is crushed economically, it will readily turn to 3rd world status. I am convinced that it will not. Yet, what it becomes when the economy collapses is not clear to me. FWIW, General.

The people who get nude on a beach, are the people you do not want to see nude on a beach.

We have lost the idea that society must bear the costs of its decisions. For example, we did not rub our hands together and agonize over whether we should bomb Dresden, we assumed that the German people had it coming for putting in place a Nazi regime. Nor did we agonize about the firebombings of Tokyo or even about Hiroshima or Nagasaki, we assumed the Japanese got what was coming to them because they turned to a militaristic/fastest regime.

Today, however, we agonize over collateral damage and we handcuff ourselves in waging war against militant Mohammedism. Instead of bombing the environs of located terrorists and assuming that "collateral damage" is the price the locals owe for harboring terrorists in their midst, we shift war making to a different method. As a result, other people die, often innocent victims, our soldiers die, and we squander trillions of dollars.

What we see in Greece is an attempt to evade the costs of the political decisions made by the Greeks. They are simply going to repudiate the debt in the long run but they will, nonetheless, suffer and pay the price for their imprudence in acquiring the debt and putting in place regimes that countenanced the debt. The present regime will not alleviate the pain the Greeks are suffering, it will merely change its nature and inflict it on others. It will make a political decision.

Equally, the governments of Europe, especially Germany, have sought to alleviate the pain banks would sustain if the Greeks default on the debt by transferring the pain to taxpayers. They rationalize this decision with the argument that every citizen would suffer much more if such a default brought on a generalized depression. They have made and will continue to make political decisions.

At some point this chain must be broken and plain must be inflicted.

Do you suppose there is an economic as well as a moral lesson here for the United States?

In WWII, Axis places that were at risk to be bombed were even leafleted ahead of time, to emphasize that the Allied quarrel wasn’t even with civilians qua civilians.

I guess that was humane enough. What do you do when you are about to attack illiterates?
