PRINCETON, N.J. -- Less than a week after President Barack Obama delivered his State of the Union address to Congress, his job approval rating reached 50% in Gallup Daily tracking conducted Friday through Sunday. This is the first time the president's rating has returned to that level in Gallup's ongoing three-day rolling averages since June 2013.

I’m not buying it, myself.
Gas prices, good economic headlines, SOTU bump. It will settle back down quickly. It’s shocking, but post people are driven by their pocket book and it feels awfully good seeing gas south of $2.
I know a PHD that used to say the same thing. “How is this possible?”
A local supposed news station reporting on a recent auction of Abraham Lincoln memorabilia referred to him both on screen and verbally as Abe Lincoln, I found it disrespectful and repugnant. What the hell would have happened if the TV bimbette had referred to Martin Luther King Jr. as Marty King? But what the hell he was just some old White President, no big deal.
they only polled democrats?
I would bet they fudged the numbers. Before the election, there were massive efforts to correct polling numbers in order to maintain credibility. They can now go back to lying because the next election is under 2 years away.
younger, lower-income adults
stoners
All so true.
Ok, so.
The day after the SOTU this young (25yo) black, low income, stoner in my office was giddy.
The first thing he said to me when I walked in was “Did you watch the State of the Union?”
Me, “No”
Him, “The Washington post said it was 90% accurate”.
Me, “dead silence”
This is a guy that plays the race card at every opportunity to the extent that he is irrational and almost paranoid.
I have intentionally avoided any political discussions other than to express my utter disdain for Government.
I’m certain he sees me as the “Old white guy”, racist and Republican.
He is completely disengaged from current affairs unless 0bama is speaking. When I say disengaged, I mean that he has absolutely no clue what is going on and he doesn’t seem to care. When 0bama was on the tube talking tough about Syria, I said it was all for show and that nothing will happen.
This is the type of guy that sees everything that either challenges his or 0bama’s words as a racist attack. He takes them as a personal attack and tries to assert control by intimidating people, physically.
Completely irrational.
Very aggressive.
Dumb as a rock.
Gun owner.
Wake and bake stoner.
That’s no more disrespectful in calling President Lincoln ... “Abe” ... than it is calling Prime Minister Netanyahu, “Bibi” or President Eisenhower, “Ike”.
Get over being offended on behalf of Abe.
Because at least half of the dolts in this country think the way their TV and NPR tell them what to think.
I give you the people cleaning out the stores over what will be 4-6” of snow in New York. They Never learn
That link might clear up some of the confusion going on since 2012.
True. Moral Idiots reign in this nation. See Watters World on Bill O and see the proof. The Pubs better throw out their RINO leadership and nominate a conserv or next year, the 50% will rule the day again with the Queen: Hil.
AH shitsky, you have just torn me to shreds, but thank you very much, I think I’ll still decide for myself what offends me and what doesn’t, but if I ever decide to have someone do it for me I’ll pick someone a tad more terrestrial. Oh and interesting that all your example are of the Caucasian persuasion.
Well, I certainly wasn’t going to use Obama ... LOL ... besides that, I don’t do P.C.
Ok, I’ll go along with you on that, and I really don’t care except they wouldn’t ever use abbreviated names or shortened names for their wonderful folks of color.
That must be it.
“Probably a polling outlier, combined with a SOTU bounce.”
It’s probably also got something to do with $2/gal gas, even though 0 has nothing to do with it... A good 50% (or more) of the country is basically clueless.
I will say I’ve never seen this country so divided, along various different lines - race and politics being the big two. The timeline since 9/11 has been ugly, there’s no other word for it.
Let’s hope some kind of sanity prevails during the 2016 election.
Bammy’s approval rating among active military is said to be 15%.
Not surprising, but as an Army retiree I would like to know how the soldiery were polled on that question.
Misplaced decimal
