PRINCETON, N.J. -- Less than a week after President Barack Obama delivered his State of the Union address to Congress, his job approval rating reached 50% in Gallup Daily tracking conducted Friday through Sunday. Only three months ago, in mid-October, 39% of Americans approved of Obama's job performance -- near his term low of 38%, last reached in September. His approval recovered slightly to 42% by the time of the Nov. 4 midterm elections. Following the elections -- after announcing executive actions on immigration and benefiting from an improving economy and falling gas prices -- his approval rating has gradually improved, averaging 44% in December and 46% thus far in January.

Improved Job Rating Follows Healthier Economic Confidence

Even if Obama's job approval rating doesn't hold at the 50% level, it has consistently registered in the mid- to high 40s throughout January, earning him the highest weekly averages he has seen in more than a year. His weekly average for the seven days ending Jan. 25 was 49%, up from 46% each of the prior three weeks, and from 44% in late December.

Notably, the recent uptick in Obama's weekly job rating follows a period of significant improvement in Americans' confidence in the U.S. economy. Economic confidence started improving in September. It then intensified in late December when Gallup's Economic Confidence Index crossed into positive territory for the first time in more than seven years, and it has since remained positive. Americans' ratings of Obama appear to be catching up with their improved economic views.

How about charging Gallup execs, threatening them with arrest, bringing federal cases against them, what was that all about?

“Nice little polling outfit you got here. Wouldn’t want to see anything BAD happen to it, capiche?”

“How is this possible?”

Are they forgetting that more than 50% of the voters in this country elected this idiot - TWICE.

Somewhere in the great beyond Abraham Lincoln is eating his words.

Do you really believe the goobers and boobs love this guy? Look at the beating Mary L. got in Louisiana the beginning of last month. These are deliberate lies.

How can they elect a Democrat next year if people are pissed off and petrified by the prospect of Obama’s third term. Fauxcahontas and Hillary aren’t exactly telegenic.

Probably a polling outlier, combined with a SOTU bounce.

He’ll be back in the 30s in two or three weeks, then it’ll be back to our regularly scheduled shitstorm.....

Obama up most among younger, lower-income adults

I.e.: buying off a voting bloc by promising free education to younger lower-income adults (i.e.: would-be & current college students) worked.

Well, you have to remember that we have Boehner and McDonnell always ready to run interference for Obama and refusing to finish him off, which they could do with their little finger.
Boehner and McDonnell are too “enlightened” to actually expose Obama. Most of us out here label it “too corrupted”.
How do we account for the Republican caucus supporting the two reprobates?

Just like many here credited Bush with low gas prices (I’ve seen the FReeper comments on that) ... many others can (and probably do) credit Obama with the present low gasoline prices.

Those who credited Bush with that, simply from him “being in office” at the time, will also provide the “like-thinking” for others to credit Obama for the low gasoline prices, simply from Obama “being in office” at this present time.

Gallup only polled low info voters. These are the same people who think that the gasoline prices are lower because of Obola, and if they are Obamacare receipients, they probably haven’t filed their income taxes yet. They’ll be in for a nasty shock when they do.

RE:”Obama up most among younger, lower-income adults “

Its obvious.

He demanded free stuff taken from the rich and given to them. The half Black liberal Santa Clause demands congress take from one to give it to 20.

It is possible by the way the questions are asked of the polled.

It is possible by the way the sample is taken or not taken if some hang up on the caller.

It is entirely possible in that light and why o why would Gallup be trusted? Why?

Quite right, StarT. Well said.

Just as W had little to do with lower energy prices, Odildo has even less to do with them...has in fact worked unceasingly to raise them.

However, the so-called "low information voter", i.e. the dumbshjts, only see the results of current events. They cannot even begin to conceptualise the causative factors.

This is why polls (even honestly conducted, which Gallup is generally not) are 97-98% worthless for evaluation purposes.

Ah, well. As my Spanish friends say, "Es lo que es": it is what it is.
