I have my friends and family members trained not to call between 11 and 2 lest I have to miss Rush. But last week I had phone calls with customer service representatives from Comcast and Verizon plus an issue with the main sewer line which required the city's Utility Department to come and dig up part of my yard. Since I have no control over these CSRs or the city's Utilities Department, Murphy's lousy law always seems to kick in when I have to deal with these kinds of situations causing me to miss a lot of Rush's show.
When all of these extraneous activities were over, I was finally able to get back to my Rush routine. Unfortunately, what I got to hear once I was able to listen uninterrupted (Thursday, I think) was TWO HOURS of the oh-so-important "deflate-gate" news story. I don't even know what came on in the 3rd hour because I was too PO'd to listen. WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME! The next day he stayed on the subject for almost as long. I finally turned him off. Anyone who knows me IRL can tell you this is totally not me. They know that the 11 to 2 time slot is nearly sacred in my day. Up until Obama's economy devastated me, I was a Rush 24-7 member. Now I have much less discretionary cash, so I had to let my membership expire until which time I can renew it without having to worry about letting go of that $. I say all that to make the point that I LOVE RUSH!
However, and this is where the back-bencher part enters the equation... For those of you who listen to Mark Levin, you know how he always refers to the back-benchers when talk radio hosts don't hit the hard topics head on. I can only guess at who he's talking about when he says that since I never hear him mention names, but when I listened to Mark's very informative and passionate podcast from January 23, I was taken aback by the contrast between the amount of information I gleaned from his program vs. the amount I gleaned from Rush's. Could it be that Rush is a back-bencher?
Prob wise decisions all. ;)
We apparently think alike on Rush. I love him and have learned so much from him over the years. I am impressed with the way he handles his callers. He’s a good listener (even though he struggles at times due to his deafness). I really hate the way Mark handles his callers. It’s often very unpleasant and rarely demonstrates a way for us conservatives to answer a naysayer in a civil way like Rush does. I remember that Rush said he used to be rude and smart-alecky with callers until he matured and realized it didn’t persuade anyone.
In spite of Mark’s rudeness to the callers, I have to admit that I’m learning more from him these days than from Rush. :’(
I am delighted that Rush has written his books. I wish he had done it years ago so that we would be further along in de-programming kids from the liberal propaganda taught in today’s public screwals. Still, I’m glad he’s doing it now. Like you, I’m fairly sure he’s got other projects in the works or on the drawing board.
Ugh. Brain caner took a friend of mine, too. Tangentially, I sometimes wonder if that is what took Jan Hooks. (Her mother and then her father died of illnesses in their middle years, too.)
I wish a station would bring Mark Levin back to Austin, TX. I used to listen to William Bennet, too, but his dismissal of Palin pretty much defined him as a Party R ‘bot, IMO.
I’ll be damn
That’s sad
So Rush really does talk to studio people
I though sometimes it was a segue act
Levin adores Rush
I doubt he would publicly criticize him
It’s like we are here usually
You see someone you know here privately say something you don’t like
You avoid disagreeing publicly
Tongue bite.
It’s just good manners
Rush himself said he wasn’t thinking clearly today because of H.R.’s death. I’m sure he misspoke more than once, but that’s unavoidable, especially when you’re on the air 15 hours a week.
Actually, I do love football, but I don’t tune into Rush’s show to listen to 2 hours of a deflated football scandal. Fifteen minutes or so would have been sufficient. Football is a pastime. Current events have an effect on us, our children and our children’s children. They’re weightier matters that have a bearing on whether we can preserve the Republic that was bequeathed to us.
In spite of your snotty reply, I was able to locate the pony in all that manure. You're right. If I'm not happy with his programming choices, I shouldn't be making plans to renew my membership. And with my Mark Levin app, I can listen to Mark's show during Rush's time slot. Plus, it's free so it will save me money! Thanks for that epiphany!
Rush, I know you're not reading here, but on the outside chance you are, let me just say that I love you (like a brother) and always will. I won't be a subscriber anymore, but I'll be sure to swing by on a regular basis.
You can download the Mark Levin app and listen for free anytime. His archives go back for years! Or you could listen online at the link in my OP. Or you could listen to him on I Heart Radio on phone or computer. I don’t know what all time slots are offered, but if 7 to 10 p.m. works for you, you could listen on KTRH 740 in Houston.
BTW, I posted a link to Levin's January 23 program and recommended that folks listen to the first 16 to 17 minutes of it. Wonder if anyone took the time to do that. To all, raise your hand if you listened to the first 16 minutes or so of Mark's January 23 show in the OP link. Anyone? Anyone?
Hopefully, this NFL thing is a passing phase, and the left will start attacking something else. Then we will have our old Rush back! :-)
As I am losing my hearing, I really relate to Rush on that issue.
Crickets. I should have guessed. :(
I’ll be sure to hit his site on the days when people are so rude as to interrupt my Rush time! ;) Thanks for the suggestion.
I really hate this fixed income stuff. I never did make a lot of $, but when your discretionary $ isn’t enough to allow you to subscribe to Rush’s 24/7 membership, well, that takes some getting used to. :(
BTW, your “Rush creds” are impressive!
