Blizzard 2015 photos: NYC grocery stores cleaned out as Northeast prepares for snow storm

Grocery stores in New York City and around the Northeast are being overrun and cleaned out as customers brace for a "potentially historic" snow storm set to bury the region.

Shoppers tweeted photos from checkout lines at stores throughout the Northeast using the hashtags #blizzardof2015 and #Snowmageddon2015:

..and here's proof! @WholeFoods more like wholezoo. #blizzardof2015 pic.twitter.com/XoixguYZrv — Teresa Priolo (@Fox5Teresa) January 25, 2015

De-Blasio started a panic. But then what else to expect...?

“Second, even if the storm actually is bad this time, don’t these people have at least a couple days’ worth of food stored up in their homes?”

It’s had for those in the Midwest to imagine, but most of the urban dwellers don’t have much food in their homes.

I could go a month and not run out of anything, and several more if need be.

Absolutely not true in my neighborhood. Shelves full, lines manageable; in and out in under 10 min.

Just because there are pictures doesn't make a headline true.

There's some bet-hedging going on in the most recent forecasts. May not be quite as "historic" as first anticipated but definitely "hysteria" applies.

Did my Whole Foods shopping the other day. I think I'm pretty much set with regard to hummus; kale; quinoa; artisan black corn chips; manuka honey encrusted pinoa nuts; avocade creme fraiche; and Kentish apple and sorrel sorbet.

Hopefully this blizzard doesn't keep me housebound for that long or I'll starve to death.

The problem is the remembrance of Hurricane Sandy. A lot of people didn’t believe THAT hype but the hype turned out to be true and a lot of people got caught napping. They were mocked lousy for that on FR. Basically, people in NYC and the Northeast (not matter what their political views)are held up to ridicule on FR. Just a fact of life like libs and rinos hating Sarah Palin.

To the preppers:
Y’all can all get together with one big sign:
“See, i told you So!”

To the EBT’ers that don’t read this, “ How is that hopey-changey working for ya?”

Lastly, after being in a blizzard in 1966, 1969, and on Long Island in 1993, (if naming storms were then it would be called the Colin Ferguson storm - look up the connection), I am having 66 degree weather down here in the swamps!
(Shhh, Smith! Not too loud ... summer’s a-coming!)

Well, it’s 3pm and it’s raining now. I’m hoping DeBlasio ends up with egg on his face...again.

And my birds are no longer going crazy at the outside feeder. Change in the weather pattern perhaps.

Uh, silly me, I thought these would be photos of the "record blizzard" in NY!

Any flakes (besides the Mayor, Governor and their administrations) yet???

Heck, we here in KS had 3" of SNOW last May 2nd, and I've got the dated photos to prove it!!!

“Scenes like this undermine my faith in humanity’s future.”

I get the opposite feeling. These people are looking out for themselves, which is a good thing. Even with a stock of emergency food, it doesn’t hurt to get some more. I would never put anyone down for making an effort to be responsible for their own welfare. The people you should wonder about are the ones who aren’t stocking up and who have no emergency food at all.

I grew up in the Bronx and remember the Blizzard of 78 quite well.

While all my idiot, lefty family members are STILL living in NYC worshiping at the alter of big government, I will be jogging shirtless in 75 degree small government, low tax Austin ,Texas.( Yeah, I know it’s a lefty city but it’s in a conservative state)

Give me 100 degree summers with a little drought over the insanity of relying on union snow plows drivers, clueless government bureaucrats and a bunch of Caribbean immigrants panicking over flurries and empty food pantries because they trade their government food stamps on cash to get a brand new tattoo.....
