Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker eschewed the podium at Saturdays Iowa Freedom Summit, opting to use the full stage to work the room with an incredibly high-energy speech that repeatedly stressed the themes of common sense conservative reform and the GOPs need to go big and go bold if they want to win in American politics today.
Walker ended by telling Iowans, Im going to come back many more times in the future and pointed to a broader American revival similar to the one he said hes led in Wisconsin. This seemed to be a clear sign that Walker intends to aggressively pursue the GOP nomination in 2016.
Striking a mostly populist pose, Walker began his speech by thanking individuals for helping him to take on big money Washington, special interests, and unions in Wisconsin. He also thanked people on behalf of both himself and his wife for their prayers, citing the support they both felt as they endured protests and death threats for pursuing his political agenda in Wisconsin.
Occupy Wall Street began in Wisconsin, said Walker, adding that the threat that bothered him the most was one that said they were going to gut his wife like a deer.
That portion of Walkers message appeared designed to make the case that hed have the strength and drive to stay the course, however difficult, should he opt to run for the presidency in 2016. From there, Walker shifted to economics.

"There's a reason we take a day off to celebrate the 4th of July and not the 15th of April," he said, almost yelling as his voice grew hoarse. "Because in America we value our independence from the government, not our dependence on it.".................Amen!

Well, he did promise to fulfill his obligation stay a full term as Governor, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be there in the thick of it pushing the conservative agenda in a positive way.

Walker is the real deal who has walked the talk under very difficult circumstances and won.
That sort of thing can’t be underestimated.

Briefly defining an agenda based upon his Wisconsin experience , Walker cited pro-life legislation, defunding planned parenthood, pulling back excessive government regulations, and enforcing common sense not bureaucratic red tape in government. He also cited cutting down on frivolous lawsuits and allowing for concealed carry and castle doctrine so citizens can stand up and defend their property.
Walker was met with broad applause several times, notably when mentioning requiring a photo ID to vote to preserve election integrity as another part of his agenda.

I like Walker a lot and I think, generally, governors make better presidents than senators do.

He is at the top of my list.
A governor in a Demon Rat state who has defeated the liberals in three elections in five years.
His state is trending up in employment, down in union membership.
Kick ass, Scott.

Add that to standing up to the public unions -- there's a lot to like here.
