Sarah Palin: ‘Of course’ interested in 2016 White House bid
Politico ^ | 01/23/2015 | KENDALL BREITMAN

Sarah Palin is “of course” interested in running for president in 2016, she said in an interview released Friday, and hopes to see a woman in the Oval Office. “Yeah, I mean, of course, when you have a servant’s heart, when you know that there is opportunity to do all you can to put yourself forward in the name of offering service, anybody would be interested,” Palin told ABC News in the interview, which was conducted on Thursday in Las Vegas.

And, hinting at her own interest in potentially joining the race, she suggested that gender might drive her involvement. “America has had enough of seeing that sign on the Oval Office door saying, ‘No Girls Allowed.’ I know that,” she said. While she “doesn’t necessarily” have run, she is “happy to drive the competition.”

Palin’s comments come one day before she is expected to attend the Iowa Freedom Summit, a gathering hosted by Rep. Steve King that will bring several potential Republican presidential contenders to the early caucus state. hosted by King (R-Iowa). Others on the guest list include New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

“Big competition, and that competition in the GOP … will surface that candidate who can take on Hillary, be ready for Hillary and show the nation what it is going to take to get the country back on the right track — because we can’t afford status quo, because status quo lately has been Latin for, ‘We are getting screwed,’ and status quo has got to go,” she said.

The only way I’ll likely even get out and bother voting in 2016 is if either Palin or Cruz are on the ticket. Even though they offer the best the GOP can possibly muster, I also suspect at this point neither one of them could even rescue this country from its current death-spiral.

But the left has successful redefined her as a caricature. Not her fault, but her time has past.

1968 - "But the left has successfully redefined Richard Nixon as a caricature. Not his fault, but his time has passed."

1980 - "But the left has successfully redefined Ronald Reagan as a caricature. Not his fault, but his time has passed."

She won’t run. She has no need to run. Her plate and life are full.

Everyone here seems to agree that she’d make a fine President, the disagreements seem to be her realistic viability as a winning candidate. We’ve got a lot riding on this one.

Thanks for the throwback link to 2010.

Yes, in print, this latest story sounds much like earlier ones. But listening to the soundbite link another FReeper provided (where she’s dishing up the food), I think she is ready to run IF there’s an opportunity to win.

Hopes were boosted a little bit here and yet...we’ll all sure find out one way or another if we get to stick around long enough, huh?

"Servant's heart" my foot. If she runs it's due to raging ambition and a desire for power, same as every other candidate.

If that was the case, Sarah Palin would still be governor of Alaska.

I’m not sure how you can “regret” being “against” her running in 2012, given that she did not actually run. If you had been FOR her running, it would have made no difference, she still would not have run.

It doesn’t appear that other conservatives are stuck on the sidelines waiting to see what Sarah Palin will do, as it felt in 2012.

Now that the spasm of PDS has eased a bit, this is a big statement from Sarah Palin. Especially after the Mainstream Republicans failed on a reasonable anti abortion bill.
Sarah Palin will refocus on the issues she believes are important, support for Israel(or at least civility) is one, and a coherent foreign policy are great goals. She will continue to clarify the issues.
Right now, organization is the key. Then funding.
Conservatives are organizing outside the Old Republican Party in Mississippi and Louisiana. Conservative radio shows are starting, like the one by Clint Didier in Washington State. This will localize some of the fight.
And the Republicans who have sold out the party are going to be in for a busy time.

"Sarah Palin: ‘Of course’ interested in harvesting as much money and spotlight as possible while she pretends that she is considering running in 2016"

Her electability will never be an issue. She will not run. Ever. Zero chance.

I agree with you about the media smearing her.
May I add that her own actions (quitting as govenor) and high profile family issues (recent trumped up family altercation), have provided ample fodder for her critics.
She is best as a redmeat issue cheerleader, conservative commentator.
We desperately need a Reagan-like leader who cannot be swayed by bribe or threat, to shame and humiliate dems, rinos and mobilize the country to move in the right direction.

I am now convinced she is doing this just to get attention.
