WILMINGTON, Del. — A man arrested shortly after gunshots were fired near Vice President Joe Biden's Delaware home says police officers beat him up.

Fifty-seven-year-old Rock Peters of Hockessin says New Castle County Police officers left him with a swollen nose, rib injuries, cuts on his face and a black eye. Photos that Peters says he took of himself afterward show his face covered with blood and bruises.

Police declined to comment.

His age is interesting in contrast with their treatment of him. Any good bouncer or good cop will understand that.

Frank Serpico just wrote a piece in the NY Times about cops today in their riot gear. He said “Cops have an us vs them attitude.”

There are lots of people who DIDN’T run and got the crap beat out of them. Running might be a better option. If you’re really fast.

There always has been and there will always be law enforcement personnel who have legal authority and power over the population. Not just in our country but in all countries around the world throughout history.

Having said that, there will always be individuals who color outside the lines of their authority. There sometimes is a fine line between the criminal and those willing to get down in the gutter with them and be a cop. But be careful not to paint all law enforcement with the same brush as those individuals who misuse their power. For every bad cop, there are hundreds out there who do their job properly and according to the rules. Just remember, the people they have to deal with are usually the evil, lowlife, scumbag cretins of society, so their jobs can't be easy.

This guy who claims to have been beaten up, fled from police and scuffled with two cops. Not a wise thing to do if you don't want to be treated a little roughly when caught. You've already made it clear to the cops that you are not willing to cooperate with them. He probably got what he deserved.

With a bare outline of what happened, reported by the AP of all people, it’s curious that so many folks on here can automatically know that it’s jackbooted, rogue thug cops who are in the wrong.

At this link you can find a somewhat more detailed account of what happened. But, we all know we can’t ever believe a dirty, rotten cop, can we?

Yes. Interesting. Their law-and-order constituents (influential political residents) around that neighborhood will have an interesting public affairs job to buy, like so many similar gossip circles around the country.

Correct, I have never met a cop that would not sell his own mother out to protect his own ass or his buddies.
But since a lot of people here think the police are somehow noble, would you mind if we made it a FELONY for a Public Servant to make deliberate false statements during the performance of their duties?

"Admittedly Off Topic; Rock Peters has a first name that means the same as the last. Rock = Peter or Petros in some forms of Greek. I know, I know, therefore what?"

Good eye there, really. It appears that he's a writer and possibly a devoted churchgoer. Could be a pseudonym for his writing or a name that simply works for writing. See the story behind the link in comment #22.

Most of us resent overbearing police and have little sympathy for thuggish behavior , but this guy did step on his own d**k a couple times in this incident from all accounts in our local papers. Tried to run a roadblock put up around a shooting scene, endangered a couple cops with reckless driving and decided to fight it out with a couple county cops when he finally did stop. You can be old AND stupid...

Go for it. One way to clean up Congress, for starters.

This guy who claims to have been beaten up,

He claim's he was beaten up and has provided photographic evidence

...fled from police and scuffled with two cops.

And, the cops claim he fled and scuffled with them.

The officer had to "step back and to the right several steps for fear of being struck by the vehicle," according to police.

Classic. Poor baby, had to step back...several steps. It must have been horrible living through all that fear.

"He probably got what he deserved."

Remember that position if you or a loved one ever get your a$$ kicked by a jackboot who "misuse their power"...

Unless this guy was actually attempting to assault the cops, there is absolutely no reason for this type of response. NONE.
