CINCINNATI, OHIO - Hours after an Ohio interstate overpass undergoing demolition collapsed, killing one person and injuring another, commuter traffic was slow around the Cincinnati region early Tuesday, particularly on other main arteries into the city.
Cincinnati Police Chief Jeff Blackwell late Monday urged commuters to plan ahead and said drivers should stay away from the collapsed overpass north of downtown Cincinnati and leave with plenty of time to get to work.
Authorities say a construction worker was killed and a tractor-trailer driver injured when the Interstate 75 overpass collapsed about 10:30 p.m. Monday.
Blackwell called it a workplace accident, saying crews were taking down an old bridge when something went "terribly wrong."

That headline appears to be straight from the Department of Redundancy Department.
This after $1T of “emergency infrastructure shovel-read jobs stimulus spending.”
The last major bridge collapse was blamed entirely on George W. Bush. Because he was in charge.
Looks really bad.
We had a bridge collapse (over a small creek) where I live last September. Two cars went down. Drivers were not seriously hurt. Bridge still hasn’t been repaired so the detour is a major pain.
Just in time for Obama’s next call for infrastructure money.
I hope that truck driver bought a lottery ticket that day...

Yeah, but who do you blame for this one since there seems to be no one in charge. Unless you decide to blame Valarie Jarrett maybe.
I'd wonder if this accident represents gov't money. (Going to a politically favored bidder.)
According to the news they were in the process of tearing the overpass down when it collapsed on them. So if anyone is to blame it's the crew that were planning the demolition.
Bad facts for that, but who needs facts?
(The bridge was being demolished while permitting traffic beneath to proceed. I’d bet on a problem with the demolition, where they should know how to do this without bringing the bridge down on traffic.)
Sounds like a demolition accident but never underestimate the emperor’s ability to turn every possible incident into a demand for more money.
Or his fortune cookie said “You will soon encounter a weighty matter.”

Even though it was an accident it won’t stop libs from hooting that we need new infrastructure.
Over the years I’ve gone over that bridge many times...
My daughter lived in Hamilton for years..
we returned from Canada last summer down that way..
And/or one that is being winked at. This is not rocket science,
I’m guessing they were in the process of demo and removal of the overpass and the pins and holding mechanisms were removed and it (the overpass) wasn’t supported at the other end (because of prior demo) and it shifted right(in the picture).....

Exactly what I was thinking. His highness will use this as a call for more money to appease more union members.
