No, it’s just that I avoid certain British topics because I know you’ll be there with the usual nonsense. I don’t like having to avoid subjects because of another poster. You seem to think Oxford University Press is some rinky dink outfit instead of a brand name that links your great country to its appeasing behavior. Let’s see if other publishers follow suit. And, of course, being open-minded, I’ll be watching for the Americans to be doing it as well - if they haven’t already.

I have never met such a delicate, easily threatened poster on FR than you. All I do is post replies to people, and you seem to take offence at this, and personal offence at that. This isn’t the first time I have been accused by you of getting at you, its several, frankly you are paranoid. Now I am so intimidating you cant enter certain threads?. FFS.
Grow up and grow a pair.

On this issue, where in god’s name have I said this decision is OK?. I have clearly stated its idiotic and stupid. Clearly.

And what nonsense do I post?. I post when people are telling lies and half-truths/myths about the UK, most people on FR value what I post, and believe that I try to give a fair and more balanced idea of the UK than thread headlines or what they have been led to believe by Fox/radio/blogs.

As do Winniesboy, Naturalman and Vanders amongst others. Potatoheadmick is another. None of us deny the UK has some serious problems, least of all the Muslim issue, what we DO is try to correct lies/misassumptions/errors about the UK and try to give a sensible (but still critical) idea of the UK without the hysteria we see too often on FR about Britain (’Britain is Muslim’!, ‘Prince Charles is a secret Muslim!’........)

I am sorry if you find us trying to give a sensible idea of the UK is ‘nonsense’ to you. I am sorry if defending my country from unfair criticism based on incorrect information offends you.

BTW, I am equally sick and tired of having threads ruined because you ‘go off on one’ as we horrible Limeys say.

Well, your thin skin is showing up again. I do avoid some British topics because of your presence. Just not worth my time to read through all your meltdowns. I only have trouble with you - not other British posters. You are simply too thin-skinned for FR.

I still think you’re Mad Ivan under a new name, lol.

E Acton gets reprinted from time to time, and I see there’s been a recent (2011) reprint by something called Quadrille Publishing. It’s still available. Whether that house has any views on the pig I know not. Incidentally, if your copy of Mrs Beeton is anything like my mother’s, it will take some burning - over 1000 pages, about six inches thick with a heavy morocco binding, as I recall. Mrs B pinched quite a few of her best ‘receipts’ from Eliza (without acknowledgement).

I’m on my way to ordering Mrs. Acton. Mrs. B.’s book is a pretty yellow paperback, gigantic and even so would take some burning. So I’ll just leave it on the self.

Yes, Mrs. B. was more of a journalist but where else can I learn to train my butler and under house parlor maid in only one chapter? Upstairs/Downstairs doesn’t tell you everything.

So the people we don’t want to offend are people who cut other people’s heads off. We don’t want to offend them. We are so afraid of offending them, we have to start dropping words from our vocabulary.

Because, you know, chopping off other people’s heads is an exhausting job, and you don’t want to come home from that job and pick up some reading material and read where someone mentions PORK.

Just think how horrible THAT would be.
