'Klansville USA' PBS Documentary Takes Cheap Shot at Republicans

"Klansville U.S.A." which was broadcast nationally last night is a PBS American Experience production by WGBH in Boston based on a book of that title by David Cunningham. It is an interesting look at the rise and fall of the North Carolina Ku Klux Klan in the 1960s. A very good historical documentary marred by the jarring flaw of taking a cheap shot at Republicans.

It was almost as if the producer and director, Callie T. Wiser, just couldn't restrain herself from taking a shot at Republicans. The documentary stuck to the facts until just a couple of minutes before the end at the 49:30 mark of the video when historian David Cecelski took the cheap shot:

Picked up on the same d*** thing! I’m a proud Southerner and conservative, and I know the South did not start going Republican until Ronald Reagan became president. The PBS clown says KKK’ers went GOP in the late 60s / early 70s, which is equine excrement. I was one of two ‘Pubs in the entire precinct in the 70s — the Dems who staffed the polls would kid me each time I showed up to vote: “Here comes that Republican again!” Often not even ‘Pubs not even on the ballot; the Dem won by default.

The line of march on the Left on North Carolina is to win it back to the Dims in 2016, and NPR is just doing its very biased best to help that effort.

I have forgotten the name of the Dem senator who was a former KKK leader (Grand Dragon?). Was it Bird? I think being racist enough to join the clan should permanently bar one from holding office. Yet there was all this fawning over him when he died - lots of honrariums etc. But Dems have no conscience so they might as well lie and say the Repubs created the KKK when it was THEM.

“”...A lot of whites are finding their racial anxieties channeled into other political avenues, into the Republican party but also into George Wallace’s American Independent Party.”

The Klan was always a branch of the demonrat party, as were all it’s members.

George Wallace was a demonrat until the day he died. He ran for POTUS as an Independent only after he lost the demonrat nomination in the primaries.

Furthermore, given that there are only about 15 individuals in the entire country draping themselves in KKK regalia and rhetoric, why does PBS choose the subject matter of the KKK to begin with?

Did they already complete and air their documentaries on Sharia law in Michigan and Europe? On jihadi training camps in the U.S.? On the rhetoric of jihad in U.S. mosques? On the violence of illegal immigration in border states? On incarceration rates of illegals throughout the U.S.? On the violence of drug cartels in Mexico and on our side of the border? On the violence of the drug distribution networks inside the U.S.? On the increasing rate of fatherless children and its effect on those children and those children when they become adults and parents themselves? On the dysfunction of the homosexual household? Yes? No?

I watched as well.

You knew 100% of all the people featured were democrats. It is the SOP of the media. If a politician’s political party is not mentioned it is certain the person is a democrat. If it were a republican at a Klan rally the first word would be “Republican.”

“Republican politician, John Doe of the republican party, who is a republican, gave a speech at a Klan rally, and is a republican politician with membership in the republican party and is a republican.”

Couple of other things to thank the Dems for: The Confederate States Of America. Succession. The Civil War.

I didn't know Robert Byrd, the Grand Wizard of the KKK from WV, was Republican. The news lied to me by saying he was a Democrat.

Do I need a '/s'?

Fact, racist Southern democrats mostly stayed democrat, voted for Jimmy Carter, twice. Twerps who long for the return of the CSA and 19th Century democrat policies have only recently infected GOP ranks (since their party is now lead by a “Black” man).

I was reading comments about the show on some forum this morning. There appears to be a sizable number of Americans who believe the Klan was organized and perpetuated by the Republican Party. When a number of posters elucidated the facts (the Klan was originated and organized by the Democrat Party) to the Dem dimwits, naturally, they refused to believe it.

Democrats are notorious for claiming Nixon began the evil "southern strategy" to draw southern whites to the Republican Party. What was the Southern Strategy? It was the same strategy that Republicans had been pitching to its constituents across the country for many decades. You know, like work hard, stay out of trouble, obey the law, don't have kids until you're married. And don't rely on government to make your life for you.

In short, the "evil" southern strategy was a made up ruse by the Dems to convince blacks that Republicans were evil, nasty racists.

There are a couple Neo-Condederates on here that make me wish Sherman had done his thing on the entirety of the CSA.
