Always game to push the boundaries of the portrayal of awkward sex on television, merely a few short minutes into Girls fourth season, Lena Dunham managed to up the squirm factor by tossing in some unexpected butt play between Marnie (Allison Williams) and Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). We caught up with the cast (and Brian Williams) at the season four premiere and asked them as delicately as we could their thoughts on the soon-to-be-infamous sex scene.

American pop-culture and Hollywood is rotten to the core. I’m reminded of Miley Cyrus’ mom gleefully video taping her daughter simulating sex acts in front of millions of viewers.
Shows and movies that have good plots don’t need distractions.
The facts that “Girls” constantly needs to show “shocking” porn scenes is a damning indictment of the vast emptiness of the show’s plots.
What’s French for “I can’t write, therefore I distract”? That should be Lena Dunham’s new motto.
Not being familiar with any of the characters I don't know if that's a hetero or homo couple...
butt play? Are they so devoid of talent they have to resort this?
ok ok I know, just having trouble believing it.
And to think I used to get embarrassed during a commercial for feminine hygiene products if I was watching TV with my father. I guess I have so many hang-ups. /S
i turned off the tv years ago. saves me $75-100/mon.
stop supporting liberals and their progressive destruction of the country.
cut the cord
“Not being familiar with any of the characters I don’t know if that’s a hetero or homo couple...”
Come on, these days, it’s the gay groups that manage to convince everyone that 2 or 3% of the population requires that virtually every scene has to have a gay scene.
And they wonder why TV is in a spin, soon to hit mother earth.
Lena Dunham is from an extremely wealthy Manhattan family. The message from the elite right now is “we don’t want to be constrained by any morality whatsoever, although we still want to retain our status as being among the elite.”
In the past, the aristocracy thought it needed to provide a moral example to the nation. They no longer feel any such need. They figure if they squawk about racism and sexism enough, they’ll make just enough of the rest of the country think they care about their interests to support policies that favor the elite.
And all homos are happy, well-adjusted, intelligent and downright fun to hang around with.
we dont want to be constrained by any morality whatsoever, although we still want to retain our status as being among the elite. = Rome circa 200 A.D.
There is a market for this trash, that’s the sad fact about the kind of people living in this country.
If you are going to produce a wildly sexually oriented show could you at least forgo the chubby and the emaciated actresses?
They can try all they want to turn this into some "breaking taboos" social phenomenon, they can hope that Christians will be out protesting, but the reality is that sexual deviancy is tired, banal and in terms of shock value, has run its course. The scene isn't "shocking", its just insipid and disgusting. What's next, will they show Lena Dunham taking a s___t in the middle of the street? Will they graphically show her changing her tampon? That's about the level that this show is at.
It amuses me to see adults gush over something meaningless as if it has meaning. Especially when it involves the fakery of television. This particular TV show seems to have as its theme rounding up some piggish and ugly females and providing them a venue to play pretend in a world that is usually inhabited by the Kardashians. Where nothing has any value but the wonderment of finding value where there is none and celebrating that place where there is no oxygen as if it is a place of life. Only in contemporary America would people such as this Lena Dumham be celebrated for their ability to basically do nothing of any substance. The only real comedy here is that an a$$hole like Dunham is being celebrated for celebrating the human anus on TV which is irony in itself if one considers that most of what comes out of TV is crap.
Ditto - I had to do a search for the actors’ names to determine that it was indeed a hetero couple.
None of the characters’ nor the actors’ names were masculine - a perfect metaphor for our feminized society.
I wouldn't be surprised!
Honestly, the show only has viewers numbering a couple hundred thousand. It gets way more coverage than its veiwership warrants.
I never heard of the show.
