Did CNN really just call a black, French terrorist an "African-American"? America, we are going to hell because too many of you are freaking morons.
Saw a picture of a female combat veteran with one leg and a prosthesis reaching high toward her hip where the other leg should be. She's beautiful. She's smiling. She looks confident and competent.
I admire and respect her. I'm humbled by her sacrifice and grateful for her and others like her. I also can't help but wonder if there isn't something not well about a society that sends women into mortal combat.

You’d think they’ve forgotten “say it loud, black and proud.” It may be the case that any name chosen will eventually become an epithet through association with the underlying culture, which is the real root of the problem.
It is similar to they way dole became welfare which became public assistance. Notice how each iteration has more syllables than the last, which says something about the artificiality of it.

I saw a story once that used the term “South African African-American.” I almost fell out of my chair.
When I always saw it as the black equivalent of being called “white trash” or “trailer trash”.
The word should never have been applied to all blacks any more than “trailer trash” should be applied to all whites.
But, that's water under the bridge, because the race pimps threw a hissy about it (and maybe rightfully so) because of how universally it was used by racist hate groups when talking about any and all blacks.
I personally prefer now to use the word “thug” in it's place since it expresses the same original intent of the N-word without the racist connotations, since it can and has been used to describe a low classes, stupid, criminally inclined person of ANY race.
