A crash that has shut down traffic in both directions on I-94 in eastern Kalamazoo County involves a truck hauling fireworks, police say. Lt. Dale Hinz with Michigan State Police said he was informed that the crash is fatal although he hasn't been to the scene to confirm that information. Multiple semi trucks and vehicles are involved and Hinz said motorists should avoid the area
Seriously, there are some times it is wiser to stay home in bad weather. Prayers up for the victims.
Hauling fireworks this time of year? Must be for the upcoming Chinese New Year.
Not just fireworks. How many of these accidents are caused because other drivers can't see around semis, or they block any chance to steer clear?
I avoid 94 in good weather. Its especially bad over that way with the amount of lake effect they get.
Blue sky 1 second, white out the next.
That Leslie Nielson GIF “nothing to see here” would be good about now.
I almost drowned in one of the Great Lakes on vacation when I was a teen. I was learning to water ski, and it was awful, but came out of it... thanks to GOD! I have never visited there again. Michigan, no thanks.
When I lived in Detroit as a yute, fireworks were illegal. We had to ride a bus down to Toledo or across the bridge to Windsor, Ontario, to buy ours. My dad was a cop so I had to be especially clever about hiding mine.
Interesting, we just went across the state line to SC and got them there, but that was long ago....:)
Was he a cop in Detroit?
> Good day to avoid 94 between K-Zoo and Battlecreek.
Hey, it’s a hard sell any time of the year. /rimshot!
Awful driving the past few days, really, getting worse, but it’s been crappy since just after Christmas.
He was a Detroit cop from 1939-1964. The day after he retired, he and the family pulled up stakes and moved to Fort Lauderdale.
Interesting that your father was a Detroit cop during that era. My GRANDFATHER was also a Detroit cop from 8/1/29 - 12/8/62..............Just how old are you?
many college kids are heading back to school for Monday classes
Have you ever seen a sign on the back of a 18 wheeler that says:
IF YOU CAN'T SEE MY MIRRORS YOU ARE TOO CLOSE
Those signs are there to remind tailgaters that THEY are in danger if they follow too close.
My word! It looks like a battle scene. Road were bad last night on the east side of the state, Lake Erie doesn’t often send nastiness our way.
K’zoo hockey team cancelled a game here in Toledo today due to treacherous road conditions and inability to travel in them.
I’d rather be driving the sole passenger car on a highway full of trucks than the other way around.
I feel a whole lot safer with the trucks because I know how to drive around them safely.
...The Good News ? .... The Truck load of Sharks arrived Safely this morning at Great Lakes Crossing ,.. all the way from my home away from home,.. Marathon Florida in the heart of the FLA Keys Long Trip in a very short time
The bad news,.. The crash that closed down 94 today in both directions ,.. hundreds of vehicles involved ,..and one reporter overheard saying..... "Fireworks Going Off, Near Climax" ,.. ( funny but poorly timed lol ) link
