Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) appears to be touting the accomplishments of the new GOP-controlled Congress even before its members have gotten the chance to hammer out any legislation.
In a speech on the Senate floor Wednesday morning, the newly elected majority leader suggested that the growing signs of an economic recovery -- 5 percent GDP growth, 320,000 additional jobs in November, all-time highs in the markets on Wall Street and plunging gas prices, to name a few -- just might have something to do with the election of a Republican Congress.
"After so many years of sluggish growth, we're finally seeing some economic data that can provide a glimmer of hope," said McConnell. "The uptick appears to coincide with the biggest political change of the Obama administration's long tenure in Washington: the expectation of a new Republican Congress."
This, he added, "is precisely the time to advance a positive pro-growth agenda" that includes tax cuts, the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline and the repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

Really.
But the media will give Republicans full, complete, solitary credit any time those numbers go down.
Happens that quickly, does it?
Hey, it worked for the Dims...
He ain’t wrong.
Sidebar — I wonder why so many HuffPo pieces show up here as topics?
He doesn’t care. He won, the rest of us all lose.
I hate to say it, but I think there might be something to what he is saying. People do act based on expectation, and people are (rightly or wrongly) expecting this Congress to be more economy and taxpayer friendly.
Think how good things could be without Boner and Ditch Mitch as the “Leaders”....
What a dummass.
The economy is starting to do better because the ball and chain of transportation costs has been alleviated somewhat with the low fuel prices.
Remember how the stock market tanked after ObaMao was elected and before he even took office?
There is SOME truth to it. At the time of the election, my daughter was job hunting. She was told by every headhunter and recruiter she spoke with that business was waiting on the outcome. If the GOP won, they were hiring.
Then they did.
I loath Mitch. But there is indeed truth spoken here.
In this case, my liberal nephew sent it to me mocking how stupid McConnell looked and I wanted the FR take.....
As I recall, the Media declared Reaganomics an abysmal failure - months before he was sworn in...
So now are McConnell & Obama going to argue about which party’s policies are responsible for this uptick in the economy? This is assuming there was one.
What’s it gonna take for people ro realize the GOP are RATS with a different name?
These Republicans are worse for us than the Democrats. Democrats oppose us. Republicans claim to be on our side but also oppose us.
Cattle cars.
I seem to recall some conservative in the media and this website noting the collapse of the economy occured when pelozi and company took over the congress.
No.
Not the economy but in this case the stock market, a completely different animal.
