There is no political consequence, outside the beltway, for voting against Boehner for #Speaker.

Well at least we try.
I asked my rep to not vote for Boehner.
I didn't tell him who to vote for, I just don't want him to vote for Boehner.

Absolutely!
They may not get plum committee assignments if they vote against Boehner, but the committees aren’t accomplishing anything anyway.

We’ve had crimes committed and no one is being prosecuted. The committees deteriorate into what can we do next time to prevent this? And then they do it again.

Really great news about Dan Webster - I have known him personally since I was a teen.

I do have some annoyingly bad news about my own Congresscritter: Mo Brooks of Alabama (AL-5). Despite my optimism from yesterday, I hear he’s going with the status quo.

Look at Rand Paul. I can’t say that he is contrary to the constitution, but zi can say that he is manipulative of the spirit of the constitution.he uses it to justify his actions, that are nothing but a power grab, not in the best interest of the country. Oh, and he changes his position every time public opinion catches up to him. He really has no core values, except to be anti-conservative.

What the Libertarians are doing is helping the Democrats win in 20016 because conservatives will not hold their nose and vote for Rand Paul.

http://dailycaller.com/2015/01/06/boehner-elated-by-amnesty-deal-says-politico/

Article says Boehner was ELATED by amnesty deal. ELATED - the speaker of the house, voted for as a Republican elated by this. #DumpBoehner will hopefully succeed and he can change party affiliation to his true party, the Ds.

I phoned the Capitol switchboard last night and left a message on Grothman’s machine. I noticed the operater called him “Representative-elect Grawthman” and she was gone before I could correct her with “Growthman”. It took forever to be connected, and my husband was home by then, so I gave up on Ryan, Duffy, and Sensenbrenner.

I realized it's better to get some of what we want ...

Please detail exactly what "we" would have gotten that "we" want with Romney. Don't tell me what you think we wouldn't have gotten. Tell me what you think we WOULD have gotten that we WANT with Romney in the White House as the defacto head and leader of the Republican party. Again, don't tell me what you think we wouldn't have gotten that we don't want. Tell me what we would have gotten that we WANT if Romney had won.

I only see a handful of people as pure as yourself, those who are willing to give all of it up and completely ruin America.

How is voting for a functional leftist amoral government-tyranny-pushing Democrat, though registered as a Republican, not being willing to ruin America? Do your due diligence on Romney, please. Voting for him WAS the same as giving up and ruining America because ozarkgirl, there is no such thing as voting "against." You ONLY get to vote "for" no matter how much you wish otherwise.

IN FACT -- and for the past several months I have kept a log and crunched the numbers -- for every FReeper such as yourself, ozarkgirl, who preaches "vote Republican even if the Republican is a functional Democrat like Romney because he won't be as bad as a real Democrat," there are at least 1.7 FReepers who say the same as Norm and I: that voting for functional Democrats registered as Republicans is a sucker's bet. Only LOSERS take suckers' bets; smart people recognize them and refuse to play.

Again, ozarkgirl, it may LOOK like "lots of folks on FR" think like you, but in fact, for every one of you, there are 1.7 others on FR who state clearly: Voting for the likes of Romney is the wrong tactic; better to not vote or to vote third party than to vote FOR a Republican leftist.

Romney was totally ON BOARD with the Democrats on SIX major issues: government-run health care, the homosexual agenda, subsidized on-demand abortion, the environmentalist "save the planet" agenda, gun control, and leftist activist judges.

When you voted for Romney, ozarkgirl, you may have intended to vote "against" Obama, but that is all pretend. The ONLY THING you did when you voted for Romney was to vote FOR the Republican party to embrace the Democrat agenda.

YOU are lying to yourself if you think you were voting for anything else.

...they will receive exactly what many of them stupidly empowered

That's what they get when the vote "against" the other guy. That's what I got for voting Republican "against" Democrats all these years. I was so busy voting "against" that I ignored what I was voting for. I didn't want to be accountable -- but man, I was sure happy to be accountable for voting "against" the other guy. Voting my way blindly into tyranny.

Ooops.

Sucker's bet! You lose!

Apparently most of these hacks fear DC more than their district voters. That must change.

It won't as long as "pragmatic" people who consider me a "purist" vote for functional Democrats registered as Republicans on the gamble that any Republican won't be as bad as the Democrat.

A sucker's bet.

If Boehner wins, particularly if he wins easily, there is no hope of reforming the GOP from within. That is nothing more than a fool’s errand. A big Boehner win means it is time to leave the GOP no matter the cost.

BUMP

Take a look at what your victory looks like lesser evil fans. Again.

Wow. Only 24 votes. I figured Boehner would win, but would have liked for him to have a little more serious opposition!

Had some sad discussions with four fellow Republicans at a party the other day who woefully buy into the "lesser evil" fantasy and who still vote for functional Democrats registered as Republicans. They've voting for an illusion. They're voting for what they wish Republicans were, instead of what Republicans ARE. They are only voting for willing enablers of the Democrat agenda; they wish they were voting "against" it.

And Rush Limbaugh, one of those voices, thinks he lives in "Realville," that's why he votes for the Republican.

Rush and everyone else who buys into the "lesser evil" trap are living in Wishville. I used to live there, too.

Out of four lesser-evil-trap victims, however, I saw a lightbulb go on when I presented it for exactly what it is: a sucker's bet, voting for an on-board functional Democrat as the "only" way to vote "against" the real Democrat.

It's kind of like finding out there's no Santa Claus, when you finally realize that no matter how much you wish you were voting "against" Democrats, it's beyond your reach and you ONLY get to vote for something else. Truth and wishes differ. Honest people eventually come to accept the truth, even when they wish it wasn't so.

Anyone see National Treasure Levin leave the GOP yet?

No?

I’m shocked.

We gotta hold their feet to the fire! Lets melt the phone lines! Lets post on twitter and facebook! Lets buy their advertizers products and their books and iced tea!

That will show them!. Because we saw the FEAR in the GOP today! It works! And we are now on the way to conservative utopia Finny!

Novemberslady observes: If someone voted for a Republican and got a liberal or Democrat yes they can complain.

Also, if someone voted for a functional Democrat Republican and saw the Republican party move sharply to the left -- those of us who warned those someones AGAINST taking a sucker's bet like that -- can complain?

Or more likely, sigh with patient sadness as we continue to try to get you to see the light: voting "against" is an illusion. You only get to vote FOR. If I have the choice of voting FOR a functional Democrat amoral leftist Republican, or voting FOR a plurality to deny the next leftist president, R or D, a majority "mandate," then I will vote FOR the plurality. I will vote FOR weakening whichever leftist wins, the R or the D.

Conservatives who vote for the leftist Republican like Romney, however, are tricked, scammed, conned, into voting FOR the very things they abhor -- and then they complain when they have to pay that price of voting "against"!

When conservatives vote for Republicans like Romney solely intending to vote "against" the Democrat, the ONLY thing they accomplish, especially if their Republican wins, is to vote FOR seeing the Republican party embrace the Democrat agenda.

Be accountable for what you vote for, please. It's the only thing that counts.

I will vote for a plurality of 2016's presidential is like 2012's in terms of Coke (R) vs Pepsi (D). I will vote to dilute whichever junk drink wins, as it is healthier and better than either one straight (that is, with a majority mandate).
