An Oklahoma lawmaker has introduced a bill that would make wearing a hoodie — the popular cold-weather garment that protects your face and head from the elements — a crime punishable by a fine of up to $500, KFOR (Oklahoma City) is reporting.
Ostensibly, the proposed hoodie ban is meant to make Oklahoma safer from people who would conceal their identity, but civil liberties groups argue the ban is little more than another means of racial profiling.

You are not allowed to conceal yourself in public.
That law is in every state. Common Sense is the rule.
A judge is not going to start locking up people at a costume party or on a movie set.
It is intended to bitch-slap people with the intention to do wrong. Nothing less.
Nope, but the store owner has another argument for shooting the SOB. Helps him in civil court. And maybe its not a robbery, maybe we walks in and punches the clerk. Misdemeanor.
Cop catches him and sees tape. Costs him another 500 bucks. (a small fortune to a Trayvon)
He can’t pay. Judge locks him up and lets him pay it out at 50 dollars a day.

Exactly. And a cops sees 5 youths at night beside a convenience store. They are wearing hoods and its 77 degrees out. He now has a legal reason to make contact and stop them before the flash mob.
And to be legal, they only need drop their hood.
I don't know what they are talking about. I'm in California, and I wear one almost every day (except in the summer).
Except it is not a "Hoodie". It is a sweat-coat with a hood... Where did the word "Hoodie" come from? It is a generic sweat-coat with a hood. The type people have been using for the last 50 years.

CALIFORNIA Penal Code Section 182-185
185. Section One Hundred and Eighty-five. It shall be unlawful for any person to wear any mask, false whiskers, or any personal disguise (whether complete or partial) for the purpose of: One—Evading or escaping discovery, recognition, or identification in the commission of any public offense. Two—Concealment, flight, or escape, when charged with, arrested for, or convicted of, any public offense. Any person violating any of the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor.
Do you wear it in the commission of a crime? Or only while fleeing?
Why would he make contact?

You are not able to read legal statutes, because in NC even though it’s on the books as a law. It is not listed as a misdemeanor nor a felony, and there is no fine....unless you are burning crosses or committing a crime.
The law is there to allow a person covering their face to be questioned by law enforcement and no one I know has ever been stopped. No fine or consequence is listed in that law for persons just wearing a hoodie.
So maybe you should learn how to read the law statutes cause you got this one wrong.
I’m just saying .... in OKC... right now.. if a cop pulls up and there are a number of “yutes” hanging outside a store wearing hoodies... they already make contact with them. If they suspect anything... they make contact right now.. without a hoodie law.
In NC, we have a law like tha,t but it carries no charges like misdemeanor or fine. The law is there only if someone commits a crime like burning crosses or robbery....
The law in and of itself isn’t what is wrong, it’s the idea of a $500. fine, that can be used to take money from someone who comes into town without knowledge of such a fine. If you don’t live there, it is doubtful you would know.
Because staring doesn’t let him know one is an escapee, one has a warrant, and one is stoned out of his mind, or one is a savable 16 year old that the cop knows his parents are trying to straighten out. There isn’t the slightest thing wrong with the cop making contact.
If they are indeed up to no good, and he has conducted a fully legal reasonable suspicion Terry stop, now he has their names etc. Makes them think tonight is not the night to hit elsewhere.
But if its the front line of the high school football team, divvying up their money to buy candy beef jerky, and discussing how they seem to be a little short, he maybe buys em a bag of jerky and they stand around talking about tomorrows game a few minutes. Tell him to get home early so they are well rested to beat the enemy team. Tells the short he’s got a good throwing arm.
It happens everyday somewhere.

It is where we are. The kids understand the power of law enforcement and they want it gone.
It is not going to happen. Society demands civility. If you can’t be civil you will be removed from society.
People need to grow up and understand how to be civil.
I feel like I’m talking to a bunch of 8th grade misfits with no understanding of personal responsibility or the need thereof.
I have never heard of any Klansmen in NC>..not saying they don’t exist, maybe they are very isolated if they exist, but I am a native and have never seen or heard of any.
Our laws are on the books for that reason from pre civil rights era, but I doubt it was even an issue then.
