Drat! Foiled again!
That is going to be the feeling of much of the mainstream media which has been incessantly pushing the narrative about House majority whip Steve Scalise supposedly speaking at a David Duke sponsored white supremacist event in 2002. It turns out that it never happened. Instead he spoke at a local neighborhood association. And who discovered this vital information? A very unexpected source, the liberal Slate. Betsy Knight explains what really happened and the reason for the confusion:

My point is, that he has admitted to speaking to the David Duke group when he did not actually do so. He probably doesn’t know who half the groups he is speaking to are. And if you speak to hundreds of groups a year, your chances of correctly remembering any particular one are low.
It was a dozen years ago. He apologized if one of the hundreds of groups he spoke to was a Duke sponsored event. It turns out it never happened but he thought he might have accidentally attended that event.
So there was nothing sincere about if it was ‘maybe’ He didn’t know. He just mouthed the words.
I wonder why they don’t listen to us. We are OK with them just mouthing words...
It doesn’t matter. The media will keep acting as if were true until the man is no longer a threat to their stranglehold on power.
